  「比丘們!凡任何比丘如實知道『這是苦』……(中略)如實知道『這是導向苦滅道跡』者,即使希求辯論、尋求辯論沙門婆羅門從東方到來:『我將反駁(使登上)他的理論。』『他將以如法使之震動,或使之大震動,或使之大搖動。』這不存在可能性。即使從西方……(中略)即使從北方……(中略)即使希求辯論、尋求辯論的沙門或婆羅門從南方到來:『我將反駁他的理論。』『他將以如法使之震動,或使之大震動,或使之大搖動。』這不存在可能性。
  比丘們!猶如十六肘的石柱,它的八肘是在下面的基礎部分,八肘是在基礎上面,即使暴風雨從東方到來,既不震動,也不大震動,也不大搖動;即使從西方……(中略)即使從北方……(中略)即使從南方來了暴風雨,既不震動,也不大震動,也不大搖動,那是什麼原因?比丘們!石柱基礎深的狀態、善埋的狀態。同樣的,比丘們!凡任何比丘如實知道『這是苦』……(中略)如實知道『這是導向苦滅道跡』者,即使希求辯論、尋求辯論的沙門或婆羅門從東方到來:『我將反駁他的理論。』『他將以如法使之震動,或使之大震動,或使之大搖動。』這不存在可能性。即使從西方……(中略)即使從北方……(中略)即使希求辯論、尋求辯論的沙門或婆羅門從南方到來:『我將反駁他的理論。』『他將以如法使之震動,或使之大震動,或使之大搖動。』這不存在可能性。那是什麼原因?比丘們!以四聖諦善看見的狀態。
  哪四個?苦聖諦……(中略)導向苦滅道跡聖諦。
  比丘們!因此,在這裡,『這是苦。』努力應該被作……(中略)『這是導向苦滅道跡。』努力應該被作。」

   1110. “Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ‘idaṃ dukkhan’ti yathābhūtaṃ pajānāti …pe… ‘ayaṃ dukkhanirodhagāminī paṭipadā’ti yathābhūtaṃ pajānāti, puratthimāya cepi disāya āgaccheyya samaṇo vā brāhmaṇo vā vādatthiko vādagavesī– ‘vādamassa āropessāmī’ti, taṃ vata sahadhammena saṅkampessati vā sampakampessati vā sampacālessati vāti– netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Pacchimāya cepi disāya …pe… uttarāya cepi disāya …pe… dakkhiṇāya cepi disāya āgaccheyya samaṇo vā brāhmaṇo vā vādatthiko vādagavesī– ‘vādamassa āropessāmī’ti, taṃ vata sahadhammena saṅkampessati vā sampakampessati vā sampacālessati vāti – netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati.

   “Tasmātiha bhikkhave, ‘idaṃ dukkhan’ti yogo karaṇīyo …pe… ‘ayaṃ dukkhanirodhagāminī paṭipadā’ti yogo karaṇīyo”ti. Dasamaṃ.

   Sīsapā khadiro daṇḍo, celā sattisatena ca.
