  起源於娑雞多城。
  在一旁坐下的尊者舍利弗對尊者阿那律說這個:
  「阿那律學友!哪些法應該被無學比丘進入後而住呢?」
  「舍利弗學友!四念住應該被無學比丘進入後而住呢,哪四個?學友!這裡,比丘在身上隨看身地住:熱心的、正知的、有念的,調伏世間中的貪婪、憂後;在諸受上……(中略)在心上……(中略)在諸法上隨看法地住:熱心的、正知的、有念的,調伏世間中的貪婪、憂後,舍利弗學友!這些四念住應該被無學比丘進入後而住。」
SN.52.5/(5) Dutiyakaṇḍakīsuttaṃ
   903. Sāketanidānaṃ. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho āyasmā sāriputto āyasmantaṃ anuruddhaṃ etadavoca– “asekhenāvuso anuruddha, bhikkhunā katame dhammā upasampajja vihātabbā”ti? “Asekhenāvuso sāriputta, bhikkhunā cattāro satipaṭṭhānā upasampajja vihātabbā. Katame cattāro? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu kāye kāyānupassī viharati ātāpī sampajāno satimā, vineyya loke abhijjhādomanassaṃ vedanāsu …pe… citte …pe… dhammesu dhammānupassī viharati ātāpī sampajāno satimā, vineyya loke abhijjhādomanassaṃ– asekhenāvuso sāriputta, bhikkhunā ime cattāro satipaṭṭhānā upasampajja vihātabbā”ti.
