  「比丘們!這被這麼說:『比丘們!無明起始點不被知道:從這裡,之前,無明不存在,然後,之後,它存在。』然而,『無明的特定條件』被知道。
  比丘們!我說:無明是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是無明之食物呢?應該回答:『五蓋。』比丘們!我說:五蓋是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是五蓋之食物呢?應該回答:『三惡行。』比丘們!我說:三惡行是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是三惡行之食物呢?應該回答:『根的無自制。』比丘們!我說:根的無自制是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是根的無自制之食物呢?應該回答:『無念與無正知。』比丘們!我說:無念與無正知是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是無念與無正知之食物呢?應該回答:『無如理作意。』比丘們!我說:無如理作意是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是無如理作意之食物呢?應該回答:『無信。』比丘們!我說:無信是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是無信之食物呢?應該回答:『無善法的聽聞。』比丘們!我說:無善法的聽聞是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是無善法的聽聞之食物呢?應該回答:『無善人的親近。』
  比丘們!像這樣,無善人的親近遍滿者使無善法的聽聞充滿;無善法的聽聞遍滿者使無信充滿;無信遍滿者使無如理作意充滿;無如理作意遍滿者使無念與無正知充滿;無念與無正知遍滿者使根的無自制充滿;根的無自制遍滿者使三惡行充滿;三惡行遍滿者使五蓋充滿;五蓋遍滿者使無明充滿,無明這樣有食物,這樣完成。
  比丘們!猶如在天下大雨時,在有大雨的山上,那個依向下流動的水使山洞、裂縫、支流充滿,填滿(充滿)的山洞、裂縫、支流使小水池充滿,填滿的小水池使大水池充滿,填滿的大水池使小河充滿,填滿的小河使大河充滿,填滿的大河使大海洋充滿,大海洋這樣有食物,這樣完成。同樣的,比丘們!無善人的親近遍滿者使無善法的聽聞充滿;無善法的聽聞遍滿者使無信充滿;無信遍滿者使無如理作意充滿;無如理作意遍滿者使無念與無正知充滿;無念與無正知遍滿者使根的無自制充滿;根的無自制遍滿者使三惡行充滿;三惡行遍滿者使五蓋充滿;五蓋遍滿者使無明充滿,無明這樣有食物,這樣完成。
  比丘們!我說:與解脫是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是明與解脫之食物呢?應該回答:『七覺支。』比丘們!我說:七覺支是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是七覺支之食物呢?應該回答:『四念住。』比丘們!我說:四念住是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是四念住之食物呢?應該回答:『三善行。』比丘們!我說:三善行是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是三善行之食物呢?應該回答:『根的自制。』比丘們!我說:根的自制是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是根的自制之食物呢?應該回答:『念與正知。』比丘們!我說:念與正知是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是念與正知之食物呢?應該回答:『如理作意。』比丘們!我說:如理作意是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是如理作意之食物呢?應該回答:『有信。』比丘們!我說:有信是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是有信之食物呢?應該回答:『善法的聽聞。』比丘們!我說:善法的聽聞是有食物的,非無食物的,而什麼是善法的聽聞之食物呢?應該回答:『善人的親近。』
  比丘們!像這樣,善人的親近遍滿者使善法的聽聞充滿;善法的聽聞遍滿者使有信充滿;有信遍滿者使如理作意充滿;如理作意遍滿者使念與正知充滿;念與正知遍滿者使根的自制充滿;根的自制遍滿者使三善行充滿;三善行遍滿者使四念住充滿;四念住遍滿者使七覺支充滿;七覺支遍滿者使明與解脫充滿,明與解脫這樣有食物,這樣完成。

   61. “Purimā bhikkhave, koṭi na paññāyati avijjāya– ‘ito pubbe avijjā nāhosi, atha pacchā samabhavī’ti. Evañcetaṃ, bhikkhave, vuccati, atha ca pana paññāyati– ‘idappaccayā avijjā’ti.
   “Avijjampāhaṃ, bhikkhave, sāhāraṃ vadāmi, no anāhāraṃ. Ko cāhāro avijjāya? ‘Pañca nīvaraṇā’tissa vacanīyaṃ. Pañcapāhaṃ, bhikkhave, nīvaraṇe sāhāre vadāmi no anāhāre. Ko cāhāro pañcannaṃ nīvaraṇānaṃ? ‘Tīṇi duccaritānī’tissa vacanīyaṃ. Tīṇipāhaṃ, bhikkhave, duccaritāni sāhārāni vadāmi, no anāhārāni. Ko cāhāro tiṇṇaṃ duccaritānaṃ? ‘Indriya-asaṃvaro’tissa vacanīyaṃ.    “Iti kho, bhikkhave, asappurisasaṃsevo paripūro asaddhammassavanaṃ paripūreti, asaddhammassavanaṃ paripūraṃ assaddhiyaṃ paripūreti, assaddhiyaṃ paripūraṃ ayonisomanasikāraṃ paripūreti, ayonisomanasikāro paripūro asatāsampajaññaṃ paripūreti, asatāsampajaññaṃ paripūraṃ indriya-asaṃvaraṃ paripūreti, indriya-asaṃvaro paripūro tīṇi duccaritāni paripūreti, tīṇi duccaritāni paripūrāni pañca nīvaraṇe paripūrenti, pañca nīvaraṇā paripūrā avijjaṃ paripūrenti. Kusobbhā paripūrā mahāsobbhe paripūrenti, mahāsobbhā paripūrā kunnadiyo paripūrenti, kunnadiyo paripūrā mahānadiyo paripūrenti, mahānadiyo paripūrā mahāsamuddaṃ sāgaraṃ paripūrenti; evametassa mahāsamuddassa sāgarassa āhāro hoti, evañca pāripūri.

Ko cāhāro sattannaṃ bojjhaṅgānaṃ? ‘Cattāro satipaṭṭhānā’tissa vacanīyaṃ. Cattāropāhaṃ, bhikkhave, satipaṭṭhāne sāhāre vadāmi, no anāhāre.
