  被我這麼聽聞
  有一次世尊住在憍賞彌瞿師羅園。那時,尊者阿難午前時穿衣、拿起衣鉢後,為了托鉢進入憍賞彌。那時,尊者阿難想這個:「在憍賞彌為了托鉢行走大致上還太早,讓我前往其他外道遊行者們的園林。」那時,尊者阿難前往其他外道遊行者們的園林。抵達後,與那些其他外道遊行者一起互相問候。交換應該被互相問候的友好交談後,在一旁坐下。當時,當其他外道遊行者們在圓亭棚共坐聚集時,這個談論中間出現:「道友們!凡任何行十二年圓滿、遍純淨的梵行,『無十比丘』是適合的言詞。」
  那時,尊者阿難對那些其他外道遊行者的所說既不歡喜,也不斥責。不歡喜、不斥責後,從座位起來後離開:「我在世尊的面前將了知這所說的義理。」
  那時,尊者阿難在憍賞彌為了托鉢行走後,餐後已從施食返回,去見世尊。抵達後,向世尊問訊後,在一旁坐下。在一旁坐下的尊者阿難對世尊說這個:「大德!這裡,我午前時穿衣、拿起衣鉢後,為了托鉢進入憍賞彌。大德!那個我想這個:『在憍賞彌為了托鉢行走大致上還太早,讓我前往其他外道遊行者們的園林。』……(中略)與那些其他外道遊行者一起互相問候。交換應該被互相問候的友好交談後,在一旁坐下。大德!當時,當其他外道遊行者們在圓亭棚共坐聚集時,這個談論中間出現:『道友們!凡任何行十二年圓滿、遍純淨的梵行,「無十比丘」是適合的言詞。』大德!那時,我對那些其他外道遊行者的所說既不歡喜,也不斥責。不歡喜、不斥責後,從座位起來後離開:『我在世尊的面前將了知這所說的義理。』大德!在這法、律中會能夠唯獨以年資(年計算量)安立無十比丘嗎?」
  「阿難!在這法、律中不能夠唯獨以年資安立無十比丘,阿難!有這七個無十之事被我以證智自作證後宣說,哪七個?阿難!這裡,比丘是有信者、有者、有者、多聞者、活力已發動者、有念者、有慧者,阿難!這是七個無十之事被我以證智自作證後宣說,阿難!具備這七個無十之事的比丘行十二年圓滿、遍純淨的梵行,『無十比丘』是適合的言詞;行二十四年圓滿、遍純淨的梵行,『無十比丘』是適合的言詞;行三十六年圓滿、遍純淨的梵行,『無十比丘』是適合的言詞;行四十八年圓滿、遍純淨的梵行,『無十比丘』是適合的言詞。」

  「不放逸連同慚,二則易受勸導的、二則朋友,
   二則無礙解、二則自在,二則無十之事。」
AN.7.43/ 12. Dutiyaniddasasuttaṃ
   43. Evaṃ me sutaṃ– ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā kosambiyaṃ viharati ghositārāme. Atha kho āyasmā ānando pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya kosambiṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Atha kho āyasmato ānandassa etadahosi– “atippago kho tāva kosambiyaṃ piṇḍāya carituṃ. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ yena aññatitthiyānaṃ paribbājakānaṃ ārāmo tenupasaṅkameyyan”ti. Atha kho āyasmā ānando yena aññatitthiyānaṃ paribbājakānaṃ ārāmo tenupasaṅkami upasaṅkamitvā tehi aññatitthiyehi paribbājakehi saddhiṃ sammodi. Sammodanīyaṃ kathaṃ sāraṇīyaṃ vītisāretvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi.
   Tena kho pana samayena tesaṃ aññatitthiyānaṃ paribbājakānaṃ sannisinnānaṃ sannipatitānaṃ ayamantarākathā udapādi– “yo hi koci, āvuso, dvādasa vassāni paripuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ carati, ‘niddaso bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāyā”ti.
   Atha kho āyasmā ānando tesaṃ aññatitthiyānaṃ paribbājakānaṃ bhāsitaṃ neva abhinandi nappaṭikkosi. Anabhinanditvā appaṭikkositvā uṭṭhāyāsanā pakkāmi– “bhagavato santike etassa bhāsitassa atthaṃ ājānissāmī”ti. Atha kho āyasmā ānando kosambiyaṃ piṇḍāya caritvā pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkanto yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho āyasmā ānando bhagavantaṃ etadavoca–
   “Idhāhaṃ, bhante, pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya kosambiṃ piṇḍāya pāvisiṃ. Tassa mayhaṃ, bhante, etadahosi– ‘atippago kho tāva kosambiyaṃ piṇḍāya carituṃ. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ yena aññatitthiyānaṃ paribbājakānaṃ ārāmo tenupasaṅkameyyan’ti …pe… tehi saddhiṃ sammodiṃ. Sammodanīyaṃ kathaṃ sāraṇīyaṃ vītisāretvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃ.

   “Na kho, ānanda, sakkā imasmiṃ dhammavinaye kevalaṃ vassagaṇanamattena niddaso bhikkhu paññāpetuṃ. Satta kho imāni, ānanda, niddasavatthūni mayā sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā paveditāni.
   “Katamāni satta? Idhānanda, bhikkhu, saddho hoti, hirīmā hoti, ottappī hoti, bahussuto hoti, āraddhavīriyo hoti, satimā hoti, paññavā hoti. Imāni kho, ānanda, satta niddasavatthūni mayā sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā paveditāni. Imehi kho, ānanda, sattahi niddasavatthūhi samannāgato bhikkhu dvādasa cepi vassāni paripuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ carati, ‘niddaso bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāya; catubbīsati cepi vassāni paripuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ carati, ‘niddaso bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāya; chattiṃsati cepi vassāni paripuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ carati, ‘niddaso bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāya, aṭṭhacattārīsaṃ cepi vassāni paripuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ carati, ‘niddaso bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāyā”ti.    Tassuddānaṃ–
   Appamādo hirī ceva, dve suvacā duve mittā;
   Dve paṭisambhidā dve vasā, duve niddasavatthunāti.
