  「比丘們!有這四種現在的世間中存在的賢駿馬,哪四種?比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿馬看見鞭影後,驚怖、來到急迫感:『現在馴馬師將對我作什麼懲罰呢?我對他作什麼反應?』比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿馬大概是像這樣的,比丘們!這是現在的世間中存在的第一種賢駿馬。
  再者,比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿馬僅看見鞭影後,不驚怖、來到急迫感,但毛被皮帶貫穿者驚怖、來到急迫感:『現在馴馬師將對我作什麼懲罰呢?我對他作什麼反應?』比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿馬大概是像這樣的,比丘們!這是現在的世間中存在的第二種賢駿馬。
  再者,比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿馬僅看見鞭影後,不驚怖、來到急迫感,毛被皮帶貫穿者也不驚怖、來到急迫感,但皮膚被皮帶貫穿者驚怖、來到急迫感:『現在馴馬師將對我作什麼懲罰呢?我對他作什麼反應?』比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿馬大概是像這樣的,比丘們!這是現在的世間中存在的第三種賢駿馬。
  再者,比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿馬僅看見鞭影後,並不驚怖、來到急迫感,毛被皮帶貫穿者也不驚怖、來到急迫感,皮膚被皮帶貫穿者也不驚怖、來到急迫感,但骨頭被皮帶貫穿者驚怖、來到急迫感:『現在馴馬師將對我作什麼懲罰呢?我對他作什麼反應?』比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿馬大概是像這樣的,比丘們!這是現在的世間中存在的第四種賢駿馬。比丘們!這是現在的世間中存在的四種賢駿馬。
  同樣的,比丘們!現在的世間中存在的這四類賢駿人,哪四種?比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿人聽聞:『在像那樣名字的村落或城鎮,有女人或男人已受苦或已命終。』他因此驚怖、來到急迫感,被驚怖者如理勤奮,自我努力者以身體作證最高的真理,連同以慧貫通後看見。比丘們!猶如那隻賢駿馬看見鞭影後,驚怖、來到急迫感,比丘們!我說這種賢駿人像這樣的譬喻,比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿人大概是像這樣的,比丘們!這是現在的世間中存在的第一種賢駿人。

  再者,比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿人沒聽聞:『在像那樣名字的村落或城鎮,有女人或男人已受苦或已命終。』也沒親自看見在像那樣名字的村落或城鎮,有女人或男人已受苦或已命終,也無他的親族或血親已受苦或已命終,但就親自被苦的、激烈的、猛烈的、強烈的、不愉快的、不合意的、奪命的身體感受接觸,他因此驚怖、來到急迫感,被驚怖者如理勤奮,自我努力者以身體作證最高的真理,連同以慧貫通後看見。比丘們!猶如那隻骨頭被皮帶貫穿的賢駿馬驚怖、來到急迫感,比丘們!我說這種賢駿人像這樣的譬喻,比丘們!這裡,某一種賢駿人大概是像這樣的,比丘們!這是現在的世間中存在的第四種賢駿人。比丘們!這是現在的世間中存在的四種賢駿人。」

   113. “Cattārome bhikkhave, bhadrā assājānīyā santo saṃvijjamānā lokasmiṃ. Katame cattāro? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco bhadro assājānīyo patodacchāyaṃ disvā saṃvijjati saṃvegaṃ āpajjati– ‘kiṃ nu kho maṃ ajja assadammasārathi kāraṇaṃ kāressati, kimassāhaṃ paṭikaromī’ti! Evarūpopi, bhikkhave, idhekacco bhadro assājānīyo hoti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, paṭhamo bhadro assājānīyo santo saṃvijjamāno lokasmiṃ.
   “Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, idhekacco bhadro assājānīyo na heva kho patodacchāyaṃ disvā saṃvijjati saṃvegaṃ āpajjati, api ca kho lomavedhaviddho saṃvijjati saṃvegaṃ āpajjati– ‘kiṃ nu kho maṃ ajja assadammasārathi kāraṇaṃ kāressati, kimassāhaṃ paṭikaromī’ti! Evarūpopi, bhikkhave, idhekacco bhadro assājānīyo hoti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, dutiyo bhadro assājānīyo santo saṃvijjamāno lokasmiṃ.
