  「比丘們!現在的世間中存在著這四種人,哪四種呢?不動沙門、白蓮花沙門、紅蓮花沙門、沙門中的柔軟沙門
  比丘們!怎樣的人是不動沙門呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘是住於渴望無上軛安穩有學行者,比丘們!猶如剎帝利灌頂王的長子應灌頂而未灌頂,已達不動的。同樣的,比丘們!比丘是住於渴望無上軛安穩有學行者,比丘們!這樣的人是不動沙門。
  比丘們!怎樣的人是白蓮花沙門呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘以諸的滅盡,以證智自作證後,在當生中進入後住於無漏心解脫慧解脫,但未以身觸達後住於八解脫,比丘們!這樣的人是白蓮花沙門。
  比丘們!怎樣的人是紅蓮花沙門呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘以諸漏的滅盡,以證智自作證後,在當生中進入後住於無漏心解脫、慧解脫,且以身觸達後住於八解脫,比丘們!這樣的人是紅蓮花沙門。
  比丘們!怎樣的人是沙門中的柔軟沙門呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘多受用被請求[接受]的衣服,少非被請求[接受]的,多受用被請求[接受]的施食,少非被請求[接受]的,多受用被請求[接受]的住處,少非被請求[接受]的,多受用被請求[接受]的病人需要物、醫藥必需品,少非被請求[接受]的,凡與他一起住的同梵行者對他多行以合意的身業,非不合意的,多行以合意的語業,非不合意的,多行以合意的意業,非不合意的,多帶來合意的贈呈,非不合意的,凡那些膽汁等起(因素),或痰等起,或風等起,或[三者]集合,或時節變化生的,或不正注意生的,或突然來襲的,或業果報生的[病痛]感受他不常生起,他是少生病者,是[構成]增上心與在當生中為樂住處之四[種]禪的隨欲得到者、不困難得到者、無困難得到者,他以諸漏的滅盡,以證智自作證後,在當生中進入後住於無漏心解脫、慧解脫,比丘們!這樣的人是沙門中的柔軟沙門。
  比丘們!凡當正確說時,能說他『沙門中的柔軟沙門。』者,那就是我,凡當正確說時,能說他『沙門中的柔軟沙門。』 比丘們!我多受用被請求[接受]的衣服,少非被請求[接受]的,多受用被請求[接受]的施食,少非被請求[接受]的,多受用被請求[接受]的住處,少非被請求[接受]的,多受用被請求[接受]的病人需要物、醫藥必需品,少非被請求[接受]的,凡與我一起住的比丘,他們對我多行以合意的身業,非不合意的,多行以合意的語業,非不合意的,多行以合意的意業,非不合意的,多帶來合意的贈呈,非不合意的,凡那些膽的等起,或痰的等起,或風的等起,或[三者]集合,或時節變化生的,或不正注意生的,或突然來襲的,或業果報生的[病痛]感受我不常生起,我是少生病者,是[構成]增上心與在當生中為樂住處之四[種]禪的隨欲得到者、不困難得到者、無困難得到者,我以諸漏的滅盡,以證智自作證後,在當生中進入後住於無漏心解脫、慧解脫。比丘們!凡當正確說時,能說他『沙門中的柔軟沙門。』者,比丘們!那就是我,凡當正確說時,能說他『沙門中的柔軟沙門。』

AN.4.87/ 7. Puttasuttaṃ
   87. “Cattārome bhikkhave, puggalā santo saṃvijjamānā lokasmiṃ. Katame cattāro? Samaṇamacalo, samaṇapuṇḍarīko, samaṇapadumo, samaṇesu samaṇasukhumālo.
   “Kathañca bhikkhave, puggalo samaṇamacalo hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu sekho hoti pāṭipado; anuttaraṃ yogakkhemaṃ patthayamāno viharati. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave rañño khattiyassa muddhāvasittassa jeṭṭho putto ābhiseko anabhisitto macalappatto; evamevaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu sekho hoti pāṭipado, anuttaraṃ yogakkhemaṃ patthayamāno viharati. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo samaṇamacalo hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo samaṇapuṇḍarīko hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharati, no ca kho aṭṭha vimokkhe kāyena phusitvā viharati. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo samaṇapuṇḍarīko hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo samaṇapadumo hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharati, aṭṭha ca vimokkhe kāyena phusitvā viharati. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo samaṇapadumo hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, puggalo samaṇesu samaṇasukhumālo hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu yācitova bahulaṃ cīvaraṃ paribhuñjati, appaṃ ayācito; yācitova bahulaṃ piṇḍapātaṃ paribhuñjati, appaṃ ayācito; yācitova bahulaṃ senāsanaṃ paribhuñjati, appaṃ ayācito; yācitova bahulaṃ gilānappaccayabhesajjaparikkhāraṃ paribhuñjati, appaṃ ayācito. Yehi kho pana sabrahmacārīhi saddhiṃ viharati, tyassa manāpeneva bahulaṃ kāyakammena samudācaranti, appaṃ amanāpena; manāpeneva bahulaṃ vacīkammena samudācaranti, appaṃ amanāpena; manāpeneva bahulaṃ manokammena samudācaranti, appaṃ amanāpena; manāpaṃyeva bahulaṃ upahāraṃ upaharanti, appaṃ amanāpaṃ. Yāni kho pana tāni vedayitāni pittasamuṭṭhānāni vā semhasamuṭṭhānāni vā vātasamuṭṭhānāni vā sannipātikāni vā utupariṇāmajāni vā visamaparihārajāni vā opakkamikāni vā kammavipākajāni vā, tāni panassa na bahudeva uppajjanti. Appābādho hoti. Catunnaṃ jhānānaṃ ābhicetasikānaṃ diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārānaṃ nikāmalābhī hoti akicchalābhī akasiralābhī, āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharati. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, puggalo samaṇesu samaṇasukhumālo hoti.
   “Yañhi taṃ, bhikkhave, sammā vadamāno vadeyya samaṇesu samaṇasukhumāloti, mameva taṃ, bhikkhave, sammā vadamāno vadeyya samaṇesu samaṇasukhumāloti. Ahañhi, bhikkhave, yācitova bahulaṃ cīvaraṃ paribhuñjāmi, appaṃ ayācito; yācitova bahulaṃ piṇḍapātaṃ paribhuñjāmi, appaṃ ayācito; yācitova bahulaṃ senāsanaṃ paribhuñjāmi, appaṃ ayācito; yācitova bahulaṃ gilānappaccayabhesajjaparikkhāraṃ paribhuñjāmi, appaṃ ayācito.
