  「比丘們!有這三種人現在存在世間中,哪三種呢?
  比丘們!這裡,某人從一切色想的超越,從有對想的滅沒,從不作意種種想[而知]:『虛空是無邊的』,進入後住於虛空無邊處,他樂味那個、欲求那個,也以那個來到幸福,在那裡,他是已住立者、勝解它者,多住於它者、不衰退者,當他死時,往生已到達虛空無邊處諸天們的共住狀態。比丘們!已到達虛空無邊處諸天的壽命量有二萬劫,在那裡,一般人存續所有壽命之所及,度過所有那個天的壽命量之所及後,他走到地獄、畜生界、餓鬼界,但,世尊的弟子存續所有壽命之所及,度過所有那個天的壽命量之所及後,就在那個存在處般涅槃。比丘們!對有聽聞的聖弟子與未聽聞的一般人,這是差別,這是不同,這是區別,即:[有]趣處、往生。
  再者,比丘們!這裡,某人超越一切虛空無邊處後[而知]:『識是無邊的』,進入後住於識無邊處,他樂味那個、欲求那個,也以那個來到幸福,在那裡,他是已住立者、勝解它者,多住於它者、不衰退者,當他死時,往生已到達識無邊處諸天們的共住狀態。比丘們!已到達識無邊處諸天的壽命量有四萬劫,在那裡,一般人存續所有壽命之所及,度過所有那個天的壽命量之所及後,他走到地獄、畜生界、餓鬼界,但,世尊的弟子存續所有壽命之所及,度過所有那個天的壽命量之所及後,就在那個存在處般涅槃。比丘們!對有聽聞的聖弟子與未聽聞的一般人,這是差別,這是不同,這是區別,即:[有]趣處、往生。
  再者,比丘們!這裡,某人超越一切識無邊處後[而知]:『什麼都沒有』,進入後住於無所有處,他樂味那個、欲求那個,也以那個來到幸福,在那裡,他是已住立者、勝解它者,多住於它者、不衰退者,當他死時,往生已到達無所有處諸天們的共住狀態。比丘們!已到達無所有處諸天的壽命量有六萬劫,在那裡,一般人存續所有壽命之所及,度過所有那個天的壽命量之所及後,他走到地獄、畜生界、餓鬼界,但,世尊的弟子存續所有壽命之所及,度過所有那個天的壽命量之所及後,就在那個存在處般涅槃。比丘們!對有聽聞的聖弟子與未聽聞的一般人,這是差別,這是不同,這是區別,即:[有]趣處、往生。

   117. “Tayome bhikkhave, puggalā santo saṃvijjamānā lokasmiṃ. Katame tayo? Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo sabbaso rūpasaññānaṃ samatikkamā paṭighasaññānaṃ atthaṅgamā nānattasaññānaṃ amanasikārā ‘ananto ākāso’ti ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. So tadassādeti taṃ nikāmeti tena ca vittiṃ āpajjati, tatra ṭhito tadadhimutto tabbahulavihārī aparihīno kālaṃ kurumāno ākāsānañcāyatanūpagānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjati. Ākāsānañcāyatanūpagānaṃ, bhikkhave, devānaṃ vīsati kappasahassāni āyuppamāṇaṃ. Tattha puthujjano yāvatāyukaṃ ṭhatvā yāvatakaṃ tesaṃ devānaṃ āyuppamāṇaṃ taṃ sabbaṃ khepetvā nirayampi gacchati tiracchānayonimpi gacchati pettivisayampi gacchati. Bhagavato pana sāvako tattha yāvatāyukaṃ ṭhatvā yāvatakaṃ tesaṃ devānaṃ āyuppamāṇaṃ taṃ sabbaṃ khepetvā tasmiṃyeva bhave parinibbāyati. Ayaṃ kho, bhikkhave, viseso ayaṃ adhippayāso idaṃ nānākaraṇaṃ sutavato ariyasāvakassa assutavatā puthujjanena, yadidaṃ gatiyā upapattiyā.
   “Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, idhekacco puggalo sabbaso ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘anantaṃ viññāṇan’ti viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. So tadassādeti taṃ nikāmeti tena ca vittiṃ āpajjati, tatra ṭhito tadadhimutto tabbahulavihārī aparihīno kālaṃ kurumāno viññāṇañcāyatanūpagānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjati. Viññāṇañcāyatanūpagānaṃ, bhikkhave, devānaṃ cattārīsaṃ kappasahassāni āyuppamāṇaṃ. Tattha puthujjano yāvatāyukaṃ ṭhatvā yāvatakaṃ tesaṃ devānaṃ āyuppamāṇaṃ taṃ sabbaṃ khepetvā nirayampi gacchati tiracchānayonimpi gacchati pettivisayampi gacchati. Tattha puthujjano yāvatāyukaṃ ṭhatvā yāvatakaṃ tesaṃ devānaṃ āyuppamāṇaṃ taṃ sabbaṃ khepetvā nirayampi gacchati tiracchānayonimpi gacchati pettivisayampi gacchati.
