  聞如是
  一時在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。
  爾時,世尊告諸比丘
  「有三大患,云何為三?所謂風為大患,痰為大患,冷為大患,是謂,比丘!有此三大患。然復,此三大患有三良藥,云何為三?若風患者酥為良藥,及酥所作飯食。若痰患者蜜為良藥,及蜜所作飯食。若冷患者油為良藥,及油所作飯食。是謂,比丘!此三大患有此三藥。
  如是,比丘亦有此三大患,云何為三?所謂貪欲、瞋恚,愚癡,是謂,比丘!有此三大患。然復,此三大患,有三良藥,云何為三?若貪欲起時,以不淨往治,及思惟不淨道。瞋恚大患者,以慈心往治,及思惟慈心道。愚癡大患者,以智慧往治,及因緣所起道。是謂,比丘!此三患有此三藥。
  是故,比丘!當求方便,索此三藥。如是,比丘!當作是學。」
  爾時,諸比丘聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。

  「比丘們!醫師為了膽引起(等起)疾病的消除,及為了痰引起疾病的消除,及為了風引起疾病的消除給與瀉藥,比丘們!有這種瀉藥,我不說:『這個不存在。』比丘們!但,那個這個瀉藥也成功,也失敗。
  比丘們!而我將教導聖者的瀉藥,該瀉藥只成功,不失敗,由於該瀉藥,生法的眾生從生被釋放;老法的眾生從老被釋放;死法的眾生從死被釋放;愁悲苦憂絕望法的眾生從愁悲苦憂絕望被釋放。你們要聽它!你們要好好作意!我將說。」「是的,大德!」那些比丘回答世尊。世尊說這個:
  「比丘們!而哪個是那個聖者的瀉藥,該瀉藥只成功,不失敗,由於該瀉藥,生法的眾生從生被釋放;老法的眾生從老被釋放;死法的眾生從死被釋放;愁悲苦憂絕望法的眾生從愁悲苦憂絕望被釋放?
  比丘們!對正見者,邪見被瀉除,以及凡以邪見為緣各種惡不善法生成,他的那些也被瀉除,以及以正見為緣各種善法走到修習圓滿。
  比丘們!對正志者,邪志被瀉除……(中略)比丘們!對正語者,邪語被瀉除……比丘們!對正業者,邪業被瀉除……比丘們!對正命者,邪命被瀉除……比丘們!對正精進者,邪精進被瀉除……比丘們!對正念者,邪念被瀉除……比丘們!對正定者,邪定被瀉除……比丘們!對正智者,邪智被瀉除……(中略)。
  比丘們!對正解脫者,邪解脫被瀉除,以及凡以邪解脫為緣各種惡不善法生成,他的那些也被瀉除,以及以正解脫為緣各種善法走到修習圓滿。比丘們!這是那個聖者的瀉藥,該瀉藥只成功,不失敗,由於該瀉藥,生法的眾生從生被釋放;老法的眾生從老被釋放;死法的眾生從死被釋放;愁悲苦憂絕望法的眾生從愁悲苦憂絕望被釋放。」

   108. “Tikicchakā bhikkhave, virecanaṃ denti pittasamuṭṭhānānampi ābādhānaṃ paṭighātāya, semhasamuṭṭhānānampi ābādhānaṃ paṭighātāya, vātasamuṭṭhānānampi ābādhānaṃ paṭighātāya. Atthetaṃ, bhikkhave, virecanaṃ; ‘netaṃ natthī’ti vadāmi. Tañca kho etaṃ, bhikkhave, virecanaṃ sampajjatipi vipajjatipi.
   “Ahañca kho, bhikkhave, ariyaṃ virecanaṃ desessāmi, yaṃ virecanaṃ sampajjatiyeva no vipajjati, yaṃ virecanaṃ āgamma jātidhammā sattā jātiyā parimuccanti, jarādhammā sattā jarāya parimuccanti, maraṇadhammā sattā maraṇena parimuccanti, sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsadhammā sattā sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsehi parimuccanti. Taṃ suṇātha, sādhukaṃ manasi karotha; bhāsissāmī”ti. “Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca–
  “Katamañca taṃ, bhikkhave, ariyaṃ virecanaṃ, yaṃ virecanaṃ sampajjatiyeva no vipajjati, yaṃ virecanaṃ āgamma jātidhammā sattā jātiyā parimuccanti, jarādhammā sattā jarāya parimuccanti, maraṇadhammā sattā maraṇena parimuccanti sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsadhammā sattā sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsehi parimuccanti?
   “Sammādiṭṭhikassa, bhikkhave, micchādiṭṭhi virittā hoti; ye ca micchādiṭṭhipaccayā aneke pāpakā akusalā dhammā sambhavanti te cassa virittā honti; sammādiṭṭhipaccayā ca aneke kusalā dhammā bhāvanāpāripūriṃ gacchanti.
   “Sammāsaṅkappassa bhikkhave, micchāsaṅkappo viritto hoti …pe… sammāvācassa, bhikkhave, micchāvācā virittā hoti… sammākammantassa, bhikkhave, micchākammanto viritto hoti… sammā-ājīvassa, bhikkhave, micchā-ājīvo viritto hoti… sammāvāyāmassa, bhikkhave, micchāvāyāmo viritto hoti… sammāsatissa, bhikkhave, micchāsati virittā hoti… sammāsamādhissa bhikkhave, micchāsamādhi viritto hoti… sammāñāṇissa, bhikkhave, micchāñāṇaṃ virittaṃ hoti …pe….
