  起源於娑雞多城。
  在一旁坐好後,尊者舍利弗對尊者阿那律這麼說:
  「阿那律學友無學比丘應該進入後住於什麼法呢?」
  「舍利弗學友!無學的比丘應該進入後住於四念住,哪四個呢?學友!這裡,比丘住於在身上隨觀身,熱心、正知、有念,能調伏對於世間的貪婪、憂;在受上……(中略)在心上……(中略)住於在法上隨觀法,熱心、正知、有念,能調伏對於世間的貪婪、憂,舍利弗學友!無學的比丘應該進入後住於這四念住。」
SN.52.5/(5) Dutiyakaṇḍakīsuttaṃ
   903. Sāketanidānaṃ. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho āyasmā sāriputto āyasmantaṃ anuruddhaṃ etadavoca– “asekhenāvuso anuruddha, bhikkhunā katame dhammā upasampajja vihātabbā”ti? “Asekhenāvuso sāriputta, bhikkhunā cattāro satipaṭṭhānā upasampajja vihātabbā. Katame cattāro? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu kāye kāyānupassī viharati ātāpī sampajāno satimā, vineyya loke abhijjhādomanassaṃ vedanāsu …pe… citte …pe… dhammesu dhammānupassī viharati ātāpī sampajāno satimā, vineyya loke abhijjhādomanassaṃ– asekhenāvuso sāriputta, bhikkhunā ime cattāro satipaṭṭhānā upasampajja vihātabbā”ti.
