  我聽到這樣
  有一次世尊住在舍衛城祇樹林給孤獨園。
  在那裡,世尊召喚比丘們:「比丘們!」
  「尊師!」那些比丘回答世尊。
  世尊這麼說:
  「比丘們!具備十一支的牧牛者不能守護、增殖牛群,哪十一個呢?比丘們!這裡,牧牛者不是色的知者、不是特相的善巧者、不是蠅卵的去除者、不是傷口的包紮者、不是煙的治療者、不知淺灘渡場、不知所喝的、不知路徑、不是牧場的善巧者、是不留殘餘的擠牛乳者、不是那些應該被尊敬供養的公牛、牛父、領導牛群的特別尊敬者,比丘們!具備這十一支的牧牛者不能守護、增殖牛群。同樣的,比丘們!具備十一法的比丘不能在這法、律中來到成長、增長、擴展,哪十一個呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘不是色的知者、不是特相的善巧者、不是蠅卵的去除者、不是傷口的包紮者、不是煙的治療者、不知淺灘渡場、不知所喝的、不知路徑、不是牧場的善巧者、是不留殘餘的擠牛乳者、不是那些應該被尊敬供養的有經驗且已長久出家之上座比丘、僧團父、僧團領導者的特別尊敬者,比丘們!具備這十一法的比丘不能在這法、律中來到成長、增長、擴展。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不是色的知者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘不如實了知:『凡任何色、一切色是四大及四大之所造色。』比丘們!這樣,比丘不是色的知者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不是特相的善巧者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘不如實了知:『愚者有行為的特相,賢智者有行為的特相。』比丘們!這樣,比丘不是特相的善巧者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不是蠅卵的去除者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘已生起欲尋時,容忍它,不捨斷、不驅離、不剷除、不使之走到不存在;已生起惡意尋時……(中略)已生起加害尋時……(中略)在惡不善法生起時,容忍它,不捨斷、不驅離、不剷除、不使之走到不存在,比丘們!這樣,比丘不是蠅卵的去除者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不是傷口的包紮者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘以眼見色後,成為相的執取者、細相的執取者,因為當住於眼根的不防護時,貪婪、憂之惡不善法會流入,他不依其自制而行動,不保護眼根,不在眼根上達到自制;以耳聽聲音後,……(中略)以鼻聞氣味後,……(中略)以舌嚐味道後,……(中略)以身觸所觸後,……(中略)以意識知法後,成為相的執取者、細相的執取者,因為當住於意根的不防護時,貪婪、憂之惡不善法會流入,他不依其自制而行動,不保護意根,不在意根上達到自制,比丘們!這樣,比丘不是傷口的包紮者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不是煙的治療者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘不是如所聞、如所遍學得的法詳細地教導他人者,比丘們!這樣,比丘不是煙的治療者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不知淺灘渡場呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘[不]經常到那些多聞者、通曉阿含者、持法者、持律者、持本母者之比丘那裡後,不詢問、不遍問:『大德!這是為什麼?其道理是什麼?』那些尊者們不對他開顯未開顯的、闡明未闡明的、在種種懷疑的法上不排除疑惑,比丘們!這樣,比丘不知淺灘渡場。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不知所喝的呢?比丘們!這裡,當被如來宣說的法律被教導時,比丘不得義的信受、不得法的信受、不得伴隨法的欣悅,比丘們!這樣,比丘不知所喝的。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不知路徑呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘不如實了知八支聖道,比丘們!這樣,比丘不知路徑的。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不是牧場的善巧者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘不如實了知四念住,比丘們!這樣,比丘不是牧場的善巧者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣是不留殘餘的擠牛乳者呢?比丘們!這裡,有信的屋主送來衣服、施食、住處、病人的需要物、醫藥必需品使比丘滿足,在那裡,比丘在領受上不知適量,比丘們!這樣,比丘是不留殘餘的擠牛乳者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣不是那些應該被尊敬供養的有經驗且已長久出家之上座比丘、僧團父、僧團領導者的特別尊敬者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘對那些應該被尊敬供養的有經驗且已長久出家之上座比丘、僧團父、僧團領導者,公開地與私下地不表現慈身業、公開地與私下地不表現慈語業、公開地與私下地不表現慈意業,比丘們!這樣,比丘不是那些應該被尊敬供養的有經驗且已長久出家之上座比丘、僧團父、僧團領導者的特別尊敬者。比丘們!具備這十一法的比丘不能在這法、律中來到成長、增長、擴展。
  比丘們!具備十一支的牧牛者能守護、增殖牛群,哪十一個呢?比丘們!這裡,牧牛者是色的知者、是特相的善巧者、是蠅卵的去除者、是傷口的包紮者、是煙的治療者、知淺灘渡場、知所喝的、知路徑、是牧場的善巧者、是留殘餘的擠牛乳者、是那些應該被尊敬供養的公牛、牛父、領導牛群的特別尊敬者,比丘們!具備這十一支的牧牛者能守護、增殖牛群。同樣的,比丘們!具備十一法的比丘能在這法、律中來到成長、增長、擴展,哪十一個呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘是色的知者、是特相的善巧者、是蠅卵的去除者、是傷口的包紮者、是煙的治療者、知淺灘渡場、知所喝的、知路徑、是牧場的善巧者、是留殘餘的擠牛乳者、是那些應該被尊敬供養的有經驗且已長久出家之上座比丘、僧團父、僧團領導者的特別尊敬者,比丘們!具備這十一法的比丘能在這法、律中來到成長、增長、擴展。

  比丘們!比丘怎樣是蠅卵的去除者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘已生起欲尋時,不容忍它,捨斷、驅離、剷除、使之走到不存在;已生起惡意尋時……(中略)已生起加害尋時……(中略)在惡不善法生起時,不容忍它,捨斷、驅離、剷除、使之走到不存在,比丘們!這樣,比丘是蠅卵的去除者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣是傷口的包紮者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘以眼見色後,不成為相的執取者、細相的執取者,因為當住於眼根的不防護時,貪婪、憂之惡不善法會流入,他依其自制而行動,保護眼根,在眼根上達到自制;以耳聽聲音後,……(中略)以鼻聞氣味後,……(中略)以舌嚐味道後,……(中略)以身觸所觸後,……(中略)以意識知法後,不成為相的執取者、細相的執取者,因為當住於意根的不防護時,貪婪、憂之惡不善法會流入,他依其自制而行動,保護意根,在意根上達到自制,比丘們!這樣,比丘是傷口的包紮者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣是煙的治療者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘是如所聞、如所遍學得的法詳細地教導他人者,比丘們!這樣,比丘是煙的治療者。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣知淺灘渡場呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘經常到那些多聞者、通曉傳承聖教者、持法者、持律者、持本母者之比丘那裡後,詢問、遍問:『大德!這是為什麼?其道理是什麼?』那些尊者們對他開顯未開顯的、闡明未闡明的、在種種懷疑的法上排除疑惑,比丘們!這樣,比丘知淺灘渡場。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣知所喝的呢?比丘們!這裡,當被如來宣說的法律被教導時,比丘得義的信受、得法的信受、得伴隨法的欣悅,比丘們!這樣,比丘知所喝的。
  比丘們!比丘怎樣知路徑呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘如實了知八支聖道,比丘們!這樣,比丘知路徑的。

  比丘們!比丘怎樣是那些應該被尊敬供養的有經驗且已長久出家之上座比丘、僧團父、僧團領導者的特別尊敬者呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘對那些應該被尊敬供養的有經驗且已長久出家之上座比丘、僧團父、僧團領導者,公開地與私下地表現慈身業、公開地與私下地表現慈語業、公開地與私下地表現慈意業,比丘們!這樣,比丘是那些應該被尊敬供養的有經驗且已長久出家之上座比丘、僧團父、僧團領導者的特別尊敬者。比丘們!具備這十一法的比丘能在這法、律中來到成長、增長、擴展。」
  這就是世尊所說,那些悅意的比丘歡喜世尊所說。
  牧牛者大經第三終了。
MN.33/(3) Mahāgopālakasuttaṃ
   346. Evaṃ me sutaṃ– ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi– “bhikkhavo”ti. “Bhadante”ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca–
   “Ekādasahi, bhikkhave, aṅgehi samannāgato gopālako abhabbo gogaṇaṃ pariharituṃ phātiṃ kātuṃ. Katamehi ekādasahi? Idha, bhikkhave, gopālako na rūpaññū hoti, na lakkhaṇakusalo hoti, na āsāṭikaṃ hāretā hoti, na vaṇaṃ paṭicchādetā hoti, na dhūmaṃ kattā hoti, na titthaṃ jānāti, na pītaṃ jānāti, na vīthiṃ jānāti, na gocarakusalo hoti anavasesadohī ca hoti. Ye te usabhā gopitaro gopariṇāyakā te na atirekapūjāya pūjetā hoti. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, ekādasahi aṅgehi samannāgato gopālako abhabbo gogaṇaṃ pariharituṃ phātiṃ kātuṃ. Evameva kho, bhikkhave, ekādasahi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu abhabbo imasmiṃ dhammavinaye vuddhiṃ virūḷhiṃ vepullaṃ āpajjituṃ. Katamehi ekādasahi? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na rūpaññū hoti, na lakkhaṇakusalo hoti, na āsāṭikaṃ hāretā hoti, na vaṇaṃ paṭicchādetā hoti, na dhūmaṃ kattā hoti, na titthaṃ jānāti, na pītaṃ jānāti, na vīthiṃ jānāti, na gocarakusalo hoti, anavasesadohī ca hoti. Ye te bhikkhū therā rattaññū cirapabbajitā saṅghapitaro saṅghapariṇāyakā te na atirekapūjāya pūjetā hoti.
   347. “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na rūpaññū hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu yaṃ kiñci rūpaṃ sabbaṃ rūpaṃ ‘cattāri mahābhūtāni, catunnañca mahābhūtānaṃ upādāyarūpan’ti yathābhūtaṃ nappajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na rūpaññū hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na lakkhaṇakusalo hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ‘kammalakkhaṇo bālo, kammalakkhaṇo paṇḍito’ti yathābhūtaṃ nappajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na lakkhaṇakusalo hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na āsāṭikaṃ hāretā hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu uppannaṃ kāmavitakkaṃ adhivāseti, nappajahati na vinodeti na byantī karoti na anabhāvaṃ gameti. Uppannaṃ byāpādavitakkaṃ …pe… uppannaṃ vihiṃsāvitakkaṃ …pe… uppannuppanne pāpake akusale dhamme adhivāseti, nappajahati na vinodeti na byantī karoti na anabhāvaṃ gameti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na āsāṭikaṃ hāretā hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na vaṇaṃ paṭicchādetā hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cakkhunā rūpaṃ disvā nimittaggāhī hoti anubyañjanaggāhī. Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ cakkhundriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhādomanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ, tassa saṃvarāya na paṭipajjati, na rakkhati cakkhundriyaṃ, cakkhundriye na saṃvaraṃ āpajjati. Sotena saddaṃ sutvā …pe… ghānena gandhaṃ ghāyitvā …pe… jivhāya rasaṃ sāyitvā …pe… kāyena phoṭṭhabbaṃ phusitvā …pe… manasā dhammaṃ viññāya nimittaggāhī hoti anubyañjanaggāhī. Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ manindriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhādomanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ, tassa saṃvarāya na paṭipajjati, na rakkhati manindriyaṃ, manindriye na saṃvaraṃ āpajjati. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na vaṇaṃ paṭicchādetā hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na dhūmaṃ kattā hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu yathāsutaṃ yathāpariyattaṃ dhammaṃ na vitthārena paresaṃ desetā hoti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na dhūmaṃ kattā hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na titthaṃ jānāti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ye te bhikkhū bahussutā āgatāgamā dhammadharā vinayadharā mātikādharā, te kālena kālaṃ upasaṅkamitvā na paripucchati, na paripañhati– ‘idaṃ, bhante, kathaṃ? Imassa ko attho’ti? Tassa te āyasmanto avivaṭañceva na vivaranti, anuttānīkatañca na uttānī karonti, anekavihitesu ca kaṅkhāṭhānīyesu dhammesu kaṅkhaṃ na paṭivinodenti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na titthaṃ jānāti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na pītaṃ jānāti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye desiyamāne na labhati atthavedaṃ, na labhati dhammavedaṃ, na labhati dhammūpasaṃhitaṃ pāmojjaṃ. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na pītaṃ jānāti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na vīthiṃ jānāti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ariyaṃ aṭṭhaṅgikaṃ maggaṃ yathābhūtaṃ nappajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na vīthiṃ jānāti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na gocarakusalo hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cattāro satipaṭṭhāne yathābhūtaṃ nappajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave bhikkhu na gocarakusalo hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu anavasesadohī hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuṃ saddhā gahapatikā abhihaṭṭhuṃ pavārenti cīvarapiṇḍapātasenāsanagilānappaccayabhesajjaparikkhārehi, tatra bhikkhu mattaṃ na jānāti paṭiggahaṇāya. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu anavasesadohī hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ye te bhikkhū therā rattaññū cirapabbajitā saṅghapitaro saṅghapariṇāyakā te na atirekapūjāya pūjetā hoti Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ye te bhikkhū therā rattaññū cirapabbajitā saṅghapitaro saṅghapariṇāyakā, tesu na mettaṃ kāyakammaṃ paccupaṭṭhāpeti āvi ceva raho ca; na mettaṃ vacīkammaṃ paccupaṭṭhāpeti āvi ceva raho ca; na mettaṃ manokammaṃ paccupaṭṭhāpeti āvi ceva raho ca. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ye te bhikkhū therā rattaññū cirapabbajitā saṅghapitaro saṅghapariṇāyakā te na atirekapūjāya pūjetā hoti.
   “Imehi kho bhikkhave ekādasahi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu abhabbo imasmiṃ dhammavinaye vuddhiṃ virūḷhiṃ vepullaṃ āpajjituṃ.
   348. “Ekādasahi bhikkhave, aṅgehi samannāgato gopālako bhabbo gogaṇaṃ pariharituṃ phātiṃ kātuṃ. Katamehi ekādasahi? Idha, bhikkhave gopālako rūpaññū hoti, lakkhaṇakusalo hoti, āsāṭikaṃ hāretā hoti, vaṇaṃ paṭicchādetā hoti, dhūmaṃ kattā hoti, titthaṃ jānāti, pītaṃ jānāti, vīthiṃ jānāti, gocarakusalo hoti, sāvasesadohī ca hoti.    349. “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu rūpaññū hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu yaṃ kiñci rūpaṃ sabbaṃ rūpaṃ ‘cattāri mahābhūtāni catunnañca mahābhūtānaṃ upādāyarūpan’ti yathābhūtaṃ pajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu rūpaññū hoti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu lakkhaṇakusalo hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu kammalakkhaṇo bālo, kammalakkhaṇo paṇḍitoti yathābhūtaṃ pajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu lakkhaṇakusalo hoti.
   “Kathañca bhikkhave, bhikkhu āsāṭikaṃ hāretā hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu uppannaṃ kāmavitakkaṃ nādhivāseti, pajahati vinodeti byantī karoti anabhāvaṃ gameti. Uppannaṃ byāpādavitakkaṃ …pe… uppannaṃ vihiṃsāvitakkaṃ …pe… uppannuppanne pāpake akusale dhamme nādhivāseti, pajahati vinodeti byantī karoti anabhāvaṃ gameti.    “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu vaṇaṃ paṭicchādetā hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cakkhunā rūpaṃ disvā na nimittaggāhī hoti nānubyañjanaggāhī. Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ cakkhundriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhādomanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ tassa saṃvarāya paṭipajjati, rakkhati cakkhundriyaṃ, cakkhundriye saṃvaraṃ āpajjati.    “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu titthaṃ jānāti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ye te bhikkhū bahussutā āgatāgamā dhammadharā vinayadharā mātikādharā te kālena kālaṃ upasaṅkamitvā paripucchati, paripañhati– ‘idaṃ, bhante, kathaṃ? Imassa ko attho’ti?    “Kathañca bhikkhave, bhikkhu vīthiṃ jānāti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ariyaṃ aṭṭhaṅgikaṃ maggaṃ yathābhūtaṃ pajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu vīthiṃ jānāti.
   “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu gocarakusalo hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cattāro satipaṭṭhāne yathābhūtaṃ pajānāti. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu gocarakusalo hoti.
   “Kathañca bhikkhave, bhikkhu sāvasesadohī hoti? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuṃ saddhā gahapatikā abhihaṭṭhuṃ pavārenti cīvarapiṇḍapātasenāsanagilānappaccaya-bhesajjaparikkhārehi. Tatra bhikkhu mattaṃ jānāti paṭiggahaṇāya. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu sāvasesadohī hoti.

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ye te bhikkhū therā rattaññū cirapabbajitā saṅghapitaro saṅghapariṇāyakā tesu mettaṃ kāyakammaṃ paccupaṭṭhāpeti āvi ceva raho ca; mettaṃ vacīkammaṃ paccupaṭṭhāpeti āvi ceva raho ca; mettaṃ manokammaṃ paccupaṭṭhāpeti āvi ceva raho ca. Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ye te bhikkhū therā rattaññū cirapabbajitā saṅghapitaro saṅghapariṇāyakā te atirekapūjāya pūjetā hoti.
   “Imehi kho, bhikkhave, ekādasahi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu bhabbo imasmiṃ dhammavinaye vuddhiṃ virūḷhiṃ vepullaṃ āpajjitun”ti.

  「不能起煙(SA.1249);不隨時放煙(AA.49.1)」,南傳作「不是煙的治療者」(na dhūmaṃ kattā hoti),智髻比丘長老英譯為「他怠忽煙燻清理棚子」(he fails to smoke out the sheds)。
  「事業是{過}[愚?]相(SA.1249);行愚(AA.49.1)」,南傳作「愚者有行為的特相」(kammalakkhaṇo bālo,另譯為「愚者有業特相;愚者有業相」),智髻比丘長老英譯為「愚者以他的行為具有特徵」(A fool is characterised by his actions)。按:DA.199等說明了三種愚者之相。
