  被我這麼聽聞
  有一次世尊與約五百位比丘的大比丘僧團在末羅進行著遊行,抵達名叫波婆的末羅族城市,在那裡,世尊住在波婆城鐵匠之子純陀的芒果園中。(296)
屋巴大葛的新集會所
  當時,波婆城末羅人名為屋巴大葛的新集會所剛完成不久,未被沙門婆羅門,或任何人住過。波婆城的末羅人聽聞:
  「聽說世尊與約五百位比丘的大比丘僧團在末羅進行著遊行,已抵達波婆城,住在鐵匠之子純陀的芒果園中。」
  那時,波婆城的末羅人去見世尊。抵達後,向世尊問訊後,在一旁坐下。在一旁坐下的波婆城的末羅人對世尊說這個:
  「大德!這裡,波婆城末羅人名為屋巴大葛的新集會所剛完成不久,未被沙門、婆羅門,或任何人住過,大德!請世尊第一個使用它,世尊第一個使用後,波婆城末羅人將使用它,那對波婆城末羅人有長久的利益、安樂。」
  世尊以沈默狀態同意。(297)
  那時,波婆城的末羅人知道世尊同意了後,從座位起來、向世尊問訊、作右繞後,去集會所。抵達後,鋪設集會所的一切鋪設物、設置世尊的座位、設立水瓶、懸掛油燈後,去見世尊。抵達後,向世尊問訊後,在一旁站立。在一旁站立的那些波婆城的末羅人對世尊說這個:
  「大德!集會所的一切鋪設物已鋪設、世尊的座位已設置、水瓶已設立、油燈已懸掛,大德!現在是那個世尊考量的時間。」(298)
  那時,世尊穿衣、取衣鉢後,與比丘僧團一起去集會所。抵達後,洗腳、進入集會所,然後靠著中央柱子面向東坐下,比丘僧團也洗腳、進入集會所,然後靠著西邊牆壁面向東在世尊後面坐下,波婆城的末羅人洗腳、進入集會所,然後靠著東邊牆壁面向西,面對世尊坐下。
  那時,世尊對波婆城的末羅人大部分夜晚以法說開示、勸導、鼓勵、使歡喜,然後令他們離開:
  「襪謝德們!夜已過,現在是那個你們考量的時間。」
  「是的,大德!」波婆城的末羅人回答世尊後,從座位起來、向世尊問訊、作右繞後離開。(299)
  那時,當末羅族人離去不久,那時,世尊觀察沈默的比丘僧團後,召喚尊者舍利弗:
  「舍利弗!比丘僧團離惛沈睡眠,舍利弗!請你為比丘們作法的談論,我的背痛,我要伸展它。」
  「是的,大德!」尊者舍利弗回答世尊。
  那時,世尊摺大衣成四折後,[左]腳放在[右]腳上、作意起來想後,具念正知地以右脅作獅子臥。(300)
已破碎尼乾陀的事
  當時,尼乾陀若提子剛死在波婆城。以他的死,尼乾陀破裂為二,他們住於生起爭論的、生起爭吵的、來到爭辯的、以舌鋒互刺的
  「你不了知這法、律,我了知這法、律;你了知這法、律什麼!你是邪行者,我是正行者;應該先說的你後說,應該後說的你先說;我的是一致的,你的是不一致的;你長時間熟練的是顛倒的;你已被論破(你的理論已被反駁),請你去救(使脫離)理論;你已被折伏,或請你解開,如果你能夠。」
  在尼乾陀若提子中看起來只存在打殺,凡連尼乾陀若提子的白衣在家人弟子們,他們也在尼乾陀若提子們上有厭的形色、脫離的形色、逃脫的形色,如那個在被惡說的、被惡宣說的、不出離的、不轉起寂靜的、非被遍正覺者宣說的、破裂塔的、無歸依處的法、律上。(301)
  那時,尊者舍利弗召喚比丘們:
  「學友們!尼乾陀若提子剛死在波婆城。他的死,尼乾陀破裂為二……(中略)壞掉的塔、無歸依所的法、律。學友們!因為,當法律被惡說、被惡教導,是不出離的、不導向寂靜的、非遍正覺者教導的時,[就]是這樣,學友們!而我們的這個法被世尊善說、被善教導,是出離的、導向寂靜的、遍正覺者教導的,在那裡,應該就全部結集,不應該爭論,以便這梵行會是長時間、長久地住立的,那會是對眾人的利益,對眾人的安樂,對世間的憐愍,對天-人們的需要、利益、安樂。學友們!什麽是我們的法被世尊善說、被善教導,是出離的、導向寂靜的、遍正覺者教導的,在那裡,應該就全部結集,不應該爭論,以便這梵行會是長時間、長久地住立的,那會是對眾人的利益,對眾人的安樂,對世間的憐愍,對天-人們的需要、利益、安樂呢?(302)

  學友們!有一法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集,不應該爭論,以便這梵行會是長時間、長久地住立的,那會是對眾人的利益,對眾人的安樂,對世間的憐愍,對天-人們的需要、利益、安樂。哪一法呢?一切眾生皆因食而存續、一切眾生皆因行而存續,這是一法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集,不應該爭論,以便這梵行會是長時間、長久地住立的,那會是對眾人的利益,對眾人的安樂,對世間的憐愍,對天-人們的需要、利益、安樂。(303)

  學友們!有二法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集,不應該爭論,以便這梵行會是長時間、長久地住立的,那會是對眾人的利益,對眾人的安樂,對世間的憐愍,對天-人們的需要、利益、安樂。哪些二呢?
  名與色。
  無明有的渴愛
  有見與無有見
  無與無
  慚與愧。
  難順從糾正與惡友。
  易順從糾正與善友。
  [入]罪善巧與出罪善巧。
  等至善巧與出等至善巧者。
  界善巧與作意善巧。
  處善巧與緣起善巧。
  處善巧與非處善巧。
  正直的與柔和。
  忍耐與溫順。
  和順與歡迎。
  無加害與清淨。
  念已忘失與不正知。
  念與正知。
  不在諸根上守護門與不在飲食上知適量。
  在諸根上守護門與在飲食上知適量者。
  思擇力修習力
  念力與定力。
  止與觀
  止相與努力相。
  努力與不散亂。
  戒壞失與見壞失。
  戒具足與見具足。
  戒清淨與見清淨。
  見清淨與依見的勤奮。
  在能激起急迫感處的急迫感與為了急迫感的如理勤奮。
  在善法上的不知足性與在勤奮上的不退轉。
  明與解脫。
  滅盡智與無生智。
  學友們!這些是二法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集,不應該爭論,以便這梵行會是長時間、長久地住立的,那會是對眾人的利益,對眾人的安樂,對世間的憐愍,對天-人們的需要、利益、安樂。(304)

  學友們!有三法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。哪些三呢?
  三不善根:貪不善根、瞋恚不善根、愚癡不善根。
  三善根:無貪善根、無瞋恚善根、無愚癡善根。
  三惡行:身惡行、語惡行、意惡行。
  三善行:身善行、語善行、意善行。
  三不善尋:欲尋、惡意尋、加害尋
  三善尋:離欲尋、無惡意尋、無加害尋。
  三不善意向:欲的意向、惡意的意向、加害的意向。
  三善意向:離欲的意向無惡意的意向無加害的意向
  三不善想:欲想、惡意想、加害想
  三善想:離欲想、無惡意想、無加害想。
  三不善界:欲界、惡意界、加害界。
  三善界:離欲界、無惡意界、無加害界。
  下一個三界:欲界、色界、無色界。
  下一個三界:色界、無色界、滅界。
  下一個三界:低劣界、中界、勝妙界。
  三渴愛:欲的渴愛、有的渴愛、虛無的渴愛
  下一個三渴愛:欲的渴愛、色渴愛、無色渴愛。
  下一個三渴愛:色渴愛、無色渴愛、滅渴愛。
  三結:有身見、疑、戒禁取
  三:欲漏、有漏、無明漏
  三有:欲有、色有、無色有
  三尋求:欲的尋求、有的尋求梵行的尋求
  三種:『我是優勝者』的慢、『我是同等者』的慢、『我是下劣者』的慢。
  三種時間:過去時間、未來時間、現在時間。
  三種邊:有身邊、有身之邊、有身之邊。
  三受:樂受、苦受、不苦不樂受。
  三種苦性:苦苦性、行苦性、變易苦性
  三積集:邪性決定的積集、正性決定的積集、不定的積集。
  三黑暗:關於過去世的疑惑、懷疑、不勝解、不確信,關於未來世的疑惑、懷疑、不勝解、不確信,關於現在世的疑惑、懷疑、不勝解、不確信。
  如來的三不護:學友們!如來有清淨的身正行,沒有如來的身惡行:如來會守護『不要他人知道我的這個』。學友們!如來有清淨的語正行,沒有如來的語惡行:如來會守護『不要他人知道我的這個』。學友們!如來有清淨的意正行,沒有如來的意惡行:如來會守護『不要他人知道我的這個』。
  三障礙:貪障礙、瞋恚障礙、愚癡障礙。
  三火:貪火、瞋恚火、愚癡火。
  下一個三火:應該被奉獻者之火、屋主之火、應該被供養者之火
  三種色的攝集:可見有對色、不可見有對色、不可見無對色
  三行:福的造作、非福的造作、不動的造作
  三人:有學人、無學人、非有學非無學人。
  三種上座:出生(年長)上座、法上座、世俗上座
  三種福德行為基礎:布施所成的福德行為基礎、戒所成的福德行為基礎、修習所成的福德行為基礎
  三舉罪事:以看見、以聽聞、以懷疑。
  三種欲的往生:學友們!有已現起欲的眾生,他們在已現起的欲上使影響力轉起,猶如:人、某些天、某些墮下界者,這是第一種欲的往生。學友們!有欲被化作的眾生,他們在欲上一一化作後,使影響力轉起,猶如:化樂天的天神們,這是第二種欲的往生。學友們!有欲被他者化作的眾生,他們在他者化作的欲上使影響力轉起,猶如:他化自在天的天神們,這是第三種欲的往生。
  三種樂的往生:學友們!有眾生使樂一一生出後而住,猶如梵眾天的天神,這是第一種樂的往生。學友們!有眾生被樂滿溢、浸透、圓滿、遍滿,他們偶爾吟出優陀那:『啊!多樂啊!啊!多樂啊!』猶如光音天的天神們,這是第二種樂的往生。學友們!有眾生被樂滿溢、浸透、圓滿、遍滿,他們只感受寂靜、滿足的樂,猶如遍淨天的天神們,這是第三種樂的往生。
  三慧:有學慧、無學慧、非有學非無學慧。
  下一個三慧:思所成慧、聞所成慧、修習所成慧。
  三種武器:聽聞武器、獨居武器、慧武器。
  三根:我將知未知的之根、完全智之根、完全智狀態之根
  三眼:肉眼、天眼、慧眼。
  三學:增上戒學、增上心學、增上慧學。
  三修習:身修習、心修習、慧修習。
  三無上:看見無上、道跡無上、解脫無上。
  三定:有尋有伺定、無尋唯伺定、無尋無伺定。
  下一個三定:空定、無相定、無願定
  三清淨:身清淨、語清淨、意清淨。
  三牟尼行:身牟尼行、語牟尼行、意牟尼行。
  三善巧:增益善巧、損減善巧、方法善巧。
  三憍醉:無病的憍醉、年輕的憍醉、活命的憍醉。
  三增上:自增上、世間增上、法增上。
  三種談論之事:關於過去時的談論,他會說:『過去時,它是這樣。』關於未來時的談論,他會說:『未來時,它將是這樣。』關於現在時的談論,他會說:『現在,它是這樣。』
  三明:前世住處回憶之智明,眾生死亡與往生之智明,諸漏的滅盡之智明。
  三住:天住、梵住、聖住
  三神變:神通神變、記心神變、教誡神變
  學友們!這些是三法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。(305)

  學友們!有四法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。哪些四呢?
  四念住:學友們!這裡,比丘住於在身上隨觀著身:熱心的、正知的、有念的,調伏世間中的貪婪、憂後;在諸受上隨觀著受……在心上隨觀著心……住於在諸法上隨觀著法:熱心的、正知的、有念的,調伏世間中的貪婪、憂後。
  四正勤:學友們!這裡,比丘為了未生起的惡不善法之不生起使意欲生起,努力,發動活力,盡心,勤奮;為了已生起的惡不善法之捨斷使意欲生起,努力,發動活力,盡心,勤奮;為了未生起的善法之生起使意欲生起,努力,發動活力,盡心,勤奮;為了已生起的善法之存續、不忘失、增大、成滿、修習圓滿使意欲生起,努力,發動活力,盡心,勤奮。
  四神足:學友們!這裡,比丘修習具備意欲定勤奮之行的神足,修習具備活力定勤奮之行的神足,修習具備心定勤奮之行的神足,修習具備考察定勤奮之行的神足
  四禪:學友們!這裡,比丘就從離諸欲後,從離諸不善法後,進入後住於有尋、有伺離而生喜、樂的初禪;從尋與伺的平息,自身內的明淨心的專一性,進入後住於無尋、無伺,定而生喜、樂的第二禪;從喜的褪去、住於平靜、有念正知、以身體感受樂,進入後住於這聖弟子宣說:『他是平靜、具念、住於樂者』的第三禪;從樂的捨斷與從苦的捨斷,就在之前諸喜悅、憂的滅沒,進入後住於不苦不樂,由平靜而遍淨之念的第四禪。(306)
  四種定的修習:學友們!有定的修習,當已修習、已多作,轉起當生的樂住;學友們!有定的修習,已修習、已多作,轉起智與見的獲得;學友們!有定的修習,已修習、已多作,轉起念與正知;學友們!有定的修習,已修習、已多作,轉起諸漏的滅盡。
  學友們!而哪種定的修習,已修習、已多作,轉起當生樂的住處呢?學友們!這裡,比丘就從離諸欲後,從離諸不善法後,進入後住於有尋、有伺……(中略)的第四禪,學友們!這是定的修習,已修習、已多作,轉起當生樂的住處。
  學友們!而哪種定的修習,已修習、已多作,轉起智與見的獲得呢?學友們!這裡,比丘作意光明想,決意於白天想:夜晚如白天那樣地,白天如夜晚那樣地,像這樣,以打開的、無覆蓋的心,修習有光輝的心,學友們!這是當定的修習已修習、已多作,轉起智與見的獲得。
  學友們!而哪種定的修習,已修習、已多作,轉起念與正知呢?學友們!這裡,比丘的諸受生起已知道(已知道的諸受生起)、現起已知道、滅沒已知道;諸想生起已知道、現起已知道、滅沒已知道;諸生起已知道、現起已知道、滅沒已知道,學友們!這是當定的修習已修習、已多作,轉起念與正知。
  學友們!而哪種定的修習,已修習、已多作,轉起諸漏的滅盡呢?學友們!這裡,比丘在五取蘊上住於隨觀著生滅:『像這樣是色,像這樣是色的集,像這樣是色的滅沒;像這樣是受……像這樣是想……像這樣是行……像這樣是識,像這樣是識的集,像這樣是識的滅沒,學友們!這是當定的修習已修習、已多作,轉起諸漏的滅盡。(307)
  四無量:學友們!這裡,比丘以與慈俱行之心遍滿一方後而住,像這樣第二方,像這樣第三方,像這樣第四方,像這樣上下、橫向、到處,對一切如對自己,以與慈俱行的、廣大的、變大的、無量的、無怨恨的、無瞋害的心遍滿全部世間後而住。以與悲俱行之心……(中略)以與喜悅俱行之心……(中略)以與平靜俱行之心遍滿一方後而住,像這樣第二方,像這樣第三方,像這樣第四方,像這樣上下、橫向、到處,對一切如對自己,以與平靜俱行的、廣大的、變大的、無量的、無怨恨的、無瞋害的心遍滿全部世間後而住。
  四無色:學友們!這裡,比丘從一切色想的超越,從有對想的滅沒,從不作意種種想[而知]:『虛空是無邊的』,進入後住於虛空無邊處;超越一切虛空無邊處後[而知]:『識是無邊的』,進入後住於識無邊處;超越一切識無邊處後[而知]:『什麼都沒有』,進入後住於無所有處;超越一切無所有處後,進入後住於非想非非想處
  四個倚靠:學友們!這裡,比丘考量後受用一事,考量後忍受一事,考量後避開一事,考量後除去一事。(308)
  四聖種姓:學友們!這裡,比丘被無論怎樣的衣服滿足,以及是無論怎樣的衣服之滿足的稱讚者,以及不因衣服而來到不適當的邪求,以及沒得到衣服後不戰慄,以及得到衣服後不被繫縛、不被迷昏頭、不被染著,看見過患地、出離慧地受用,而且既不以那個無論怎樣的衣服之滿足讚揚自己,也不輕蔑他,凡在那裡熟練、不怠惰、正知、朝向念者,學友們!這被稱為住立於往昔最高聖種姓的比丘。
  再者,學友們!比丘被無論怎樣的施食滿足,以及是對無論怎樣的施食之滿足的稱讚者,以及不因施食而來到不適當的邪求,以及沒得到施食後不戰慄,以及得到施食後後不被繫縛、不被迷昏頭、不被染著,看見過患地、出離慧地受用,而且既不以那個無論怎樣的施食之滿足讚揚自己,也不輕蔑他,凡在那裡熟練、不怠惰、正知、朝向念者,學友們!這被稱為住立於往昔最高聖種姓的比丘。
  再者,學友們!比丘被無論怎樣的住處之滿足,以及是對無論怎樣的住處之滿足的稱讚者,以及不因住處而來到不適當的邪求,以及沒得到住處後不戰慄,以及得到住處後不被繫縛、不被迷昏頭、不被染著,看見過患地、出離慧地受用,而且既不以那個無論怎樣的住處之滿足讚揚自己,也不輕蔑他,凡在那裡熟練、不怠惰、正知、朝向念者,學友們!這被稱為住立於往昔最高聖種姓的比丘。
  再者,學友們!比丘是樂於捨斷者,愛好捨斷者;是樂於修習者,愛好修習者,又,他既不以是樂於捨斷者,愛好捨斷者;是樂於修習者,愛好修習者讚揚自己,也不輕蔑他,凡在那裡熟練、不怠惰、正知、朝向念者,學友們!這被稱為住立於往昔最高聖種姓的比丘。[AN.4.28](309)
  四種勤奮自制的勤奮捨斷的勤奮修習的勤奮隨護的勤奮
  學友們!而什麼是自制勤奮?學友們!這裡,比丘以眼見色後,不成為相的執取者、細相的執取者,因那個理由,貪婪、憂諸惡不善法會流入那位住於眼根不自制者。他走向為了那個的自制,守護眼根,在眼根上來到自制;以耳聽聲音後……以鼻聞氣味後……以舌嚐味道後……以身觸所觸後……以意識知法後,不成為相的執取者、細相的執取者,因那個理由,貪婪、憂諸惡不善法會流入那位住於意根不自制者。他走向為了那個的自制,守護意根,在意根上來到自制,學友們!這被稱為自制的勤奮。
  學友們!而什麼是捨斷的勤奮呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘已生起欲尋時,不容忍它,捨斷、驅離、作終結、使之走到不存在;已生起惡意尋時……已生起加害尋時……(中略)在惡不善法生起時,不容忍它,捨斷、驅離、作終結、使之走到不存在,學友們!這被稱為捨斷的勤奮。
  學友們!而什麼是修習的勤奮呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘依止遠離、依止離貪、依止滅、捨棄的成熟修習念覺支……修習擇法覺支……修習活力覺支……修習喜覺支……修習寧靜覺支……修習覺支;依止遠離、依止離貪、依止滅、捨棄的成熟修習平靜覺支,學友們!這被稱為修習的勤奮。
  學友們!而什麼是隨護的勤奮呢?比丘們!這裡,比丘隨護已生起的善之定相:骨想、蟲食想、青瘀想、斷壞想、腫脹想,學友們!這被稱為隨護的勤奮。
  四智:法智類比智他心智、世俗智。
  下一個四智:苦智、苦集智、苦滅智、導向苦滅道跡智。(310)
  四入流支善人的結交、聽聞正法、如理作意法隨法行
  四入流者的支:學友們!這裡,聖弟子在佛上具備不壞淨:『像這樣,那位世尊是阿羅漢遍正覺者明行具足者善逝世間知者應該被調御人的無上調御者天-人們的大師佛陀世尊。』在法上具備不壞淨:『法是被世尊善說的、直接可見的、即時的、請你來看的、能引導的、應該被智者各自經驗的。』在僧團上具備不壞淨:『世尊的弟子僧團是善行者,世尊的弟子僧團是正直行者,世尊的弟子僧團是真理行者,世尊的弟子僧團是方正行者,即:四雙之人、八輩之士,這世尊的弟子僧團應該被奉獻、應該被供奉、應該被供養、應該被合掌,為世間的無上福田。』具備聖者所愛諸戒:『無毀壞的、無瑕疵的、無污點的、無雜色的、自由的、智者所稱讚的、不取著的、轉起定的。』
  四沙門果:入流果一來果不還果阿羅漢果
  四界:地界、水界、火界、風界。
  四食:或粗或細的物質食物,第二、,第三、意思,第四、
  四識住:學友們!當識住立時,住立在攀住的色、所緣的色、所住立的色上,有喜的澆灑,就能來到成長、增長、成滿。學友們!當識住立時,會住立在攀住的受……(中略)學友們!當識住立時,住立在攀住的想……(中略)學友們!當識住立時,住立在攀住的行、所緣的行、所住立的行上,有喜的澆灑,就能來到成長、增長、成滿。
  四個不應該行處之行:到欲的不應該行處、到瞋的不應該行處、到癡的不應該行處、到恐怖的不應該行處。
  四種渴愛之生起:學友們!當比丘的渴愛生起時,因衣服之故而生起,學友們!當比丘的渴愛生起時,因施食之故而生起,學友們!當比丘的渴愛生起時,因住所之故而生起,學友們!當比丘的渴愛生起時,因如是有與非有之故而生起。
  四種行道:遲緩通達的苦行道、快速通達的苦行道、遲緩通達的樂行道、快速通達的樂行道。
  下一個四種行道:不能忍耐的行道、能忍耐的行道、調御的行道、寂靜的行道
  四種法足:無貪婪法足、無惡意法足、正念法足、正定法足。
  四種法的受持:學友們!有法的受持現在是苦的,未來有苦的果報;學友們!有法的受持現在是苦的,未來有樂的果報;學友們!有法的受持現在是樂的,未來有苦的果報;學友們!有法的受持現在是樂的,未來有樂的果報。
  四法蘊:戒蘊、定蘊、慧蘊、解脫蘊。
  四力:活力之力、念力、定力、慧力。
  四依處:慧依處、真理依處、施捨依處、止息依處。(311)
  四種問題的回答:應該決定性回答的問題、應該反問後回答的問題、應該分別回答的問題、應該被擱置的問題。
  四種業:學友們!有黑果報的黑業,學友們!有白果報的白業,學友們!有黑白果報的黑白業,學友們!有轉起業的滅盡之非黑非白果報的非黑非白業。
  四種能被作證的法:前世住處能被記憶作證、眾生死而再生能被眼作證、八解脫能被身作證、諸漏的滅盡能被慧作證。
  四種暴流:欲的暴流、有的暴流、見的暴流、無明的暴流。
  四種軛:欲之軛、有之軛、見之軛、無明之軛。
  四種離軛:欲之軛的離軛、有之軛的離軛、見之軛的離軛、無明之軛的離軛。
  四種繫縛:貪婪的身繫縛、惡意的身繫縛、戒禁取的身繫縛、這是真理之執著的身繫縛。
  四取:欲取、見取、戒禁取[真]我論取
  四種胎:卵生胎、胎生胎、濕生胎、化生胎。

  四種個體的獲得:學友們!有以自己的思(意志)來到個體的獲得而非其他的思。學友們!有以其他的思來到個體的獲得而非自己的思。學友們!有以自己的思與其他的思來到個體的獲得。學友們!有既非以自己的思也非其他的思來到個體的獲得。(312)
  四種清淨的供養:學友們!有供養由於施與者而非領受者而變成清淨,學友們!有供養由於領受者而非施與者而變成清淨,學友們!有供養既非由於施與者也非領受者而變成清淨,學友們!有供養由於施與者與領受者而變成清淨。
  四攝事:布施、愛語、利行、平等
  四非聖言說:妄語離間語粗惡語雜穢語
  四聖言說:妄語的戒絕、離間語的戒絕、粗惡語的戒絕、雜穢語的戒絕。
  下一個四非聖言說:對未見的說已見、對未聽聞的說已聽聞、對未覺的說已覺、對未識知的說已識知

  四種人:學友們!這裡,某人自己是苦行者,致力於自己苦行之 實踐。學友們!這裡,某人是使他人痛苦者,致力於使他人痛苦之實踐。學友們!這裡,某人是使自己痛苦者,致力於使自己痛苦之實踐,以及是使他人痛苦者,致力於使他人痛苦之實踐。學友們!這裡,某人是既不使自己痛苦者,不致力於使自己痛苦之實踐,也是不使他人痛苦者,不致力於使他人痛苦之實踐,他是不使自己痛苦者、不使他人痛苦者、當生無飢渴者、熄滅者、清涼已生者、感受樂者,住於以自己為梵已生者
  下一個四種人:學友們!這裡,某人是為自己利益而不為他人利益的行者。學友們!這裡,某人是為他人利益而不為自己利益的行者。學友們!這裡,某人是既不為自己利益也不為他人利益的行者。學友們!這裡,某人是為自己利益也為他人利益的行者。
  下一個四種人:由黑闇到黑闇、由黑闇到光輝、由光輝到黑闇、由光輝到光輝。
  下一個四種人:不動沙門、紅蓮花沙門、白蓮花沙門、沙門中的柔軟沙門
  學友們!這些是四法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。(314)

  學友們!有五法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。哪些五呢?
  五蘊:色蘊、受蘊、想蘊、行蘊、識蘊。
  五取蘊:色取蘊、受取蘊、想取蘊、行取蘊、識取蘊。
  五種欲:能被眼識知的、想要的、所愛的、合意的、可愛形色的、伴隨欲的、誘人的諸色,能被耳識知……的諸聲音……能被鼻識知……的諸氣味……能被舌識知……的諸味道……能被身識知的、想要的、所愛的、合意的、可愛形色的、伴隨欲的、誘人的諸所觸。
  五趣:地獄、畜生、餓鬼、人、天。
  五慳吝:對住處的慳吝、對家的慳吝、對利得的慳吝、對稱讚的慳吝、對法的慳吝。
  五蓋欲的意欲蓋、惡意蓋、惛沈睡眠蓋、掉舉後悔蓋、疑惑蓋。
  五下分結:有身見、疑、戒禁取、欲的意欲、惡意。
  五上分結:色貪、無色貪、慢、掉舉、無明。
  五學處:殺生的戒絕、未給予而取的戒絕、邪淫的戒絕、妄語的戒絕、戒絕榖酒、果酒、酒放逸處的戒絕。(315)
  五種不可能處:學友們!諸漏已盡的比丘不可能故意奪取生類的命,學友們!諸漏已盡的比丘不可能未給予而取被稱為偷盜,學友們!諸漏已盡的比丘不可能從事婬欲法,學友們!諸漏已盡的比丘不可能有故意虛妄的言說,學友們!諸漏已盡的比丘不可能在欲上受用貯藏物猶如以前在家時一樣。
  五種損失:親族的損失、財富的損失、疾病的損失、戒的損失、見的損失。學友們!眾生不因親族的損失或因財富的損失或因疾病的損失,以身體的崩解,死後往生苦界惡趣下界、地獄,學友們!眾生因戒的損失或見的損失,以身體的崩解,死後往生苦界、惡趣、下界、地獄。
  五具足:親屬具足、財富具足、無病具足、戒具足、見具足。學友們!眾生不因親屬具足或財富具足或無病具足,以身體的崩解,死後往生善趣、天界,學友們!眾生因戒具足或見具足,以身體的崩解,死後往生善趣、天界。
  破戒者、戒已壞失者的五種過患:學友們!這裡,破戒者、戒已壞失者因為放逸而遭受大財產的損失,這是第一種破戒者、戒壞失者的過患。再者,學友們!破戒者、戒已壞失者的惡名聲傳出去,這是第二種破戒者、戒壞失者的過患。再者,學友們!破戒者、戒已壞失者往見任何群眾:剎帝利眾或婆羅門眾或屋主眾或沙門眾,他無自信地、心虛地往見,這是第三種破戒者、戒壞失者的過患。再者,學友們!破戒者、戒已壞失者迷亂地死去,這是第四種破戒者、戒壞失者的過患。再者,學友們!破戒者、戒已壞失者以身體的崩解,死後往生苦界、惡趣、下界、地獄,這是第五種破戒者、戒壞失者的過患。
  持戒者、戒具足者的五種效益:學友們!這裡,持戒者、戒具足者因為不放逸而到達大財產的聚集,這是第一種持戒者、戒具足者的效益。再者,學友們!持戒者、戒具足者的好名聲傳出去,這是第二種持戒者、戒具足者的效益。再者,學友們!持戒者、戒具足者往見任何群眾:剎帝利眾或婆羅門眾或屋主眾或沙門眾,他有自信地、不心虛地往見,這是第三種持戒者、戒具足者的效益。再者,學友們!持戒者、戒具足者不迷亂地死去,這是第四種持戒者、戒具足者的效益。再者,學友們!持戒者、戒具足者以身體的崩解,死後往生善趣、天界,這是第五種持戒者、戒具足者的效益。
  學友們!責備他人的舉罪比丘,應該自己準備好五法後,再責備他人:我將以適當時機而非不適當時機說;我將以事實而非不實說;我將以柔軟而不粗暴地說;我將以伴隨有利益的、非以伴隨無利益的說;我將以慈心而非以內瞋說。學友們!責備他人的舉罪比丘,應該自己準備好這五法後,再責備他人。(316)
  五勤奮支:學友們!這裡,比丘是有信者,他信如來的:『像這樣,那位世尊是阿羅漢、遍正覺者、明行具足者、善逝、世間知者、應該被調御人的無上調御者、天-人們的大師、佛陀、世尊。』是少病者、少病惱者,具備等熟力的消化力:不過寒的、不過熱的、中間的、承受勤奮的。是不狡猾者、不偽詐者,在大師或有智的同梵行者們中如實不誇大自己。為了不善法的捨斷、為了善法的具足,住於活力已被發動的、剛毅的、堅固努力的、在諸善法上不放下負擔的。是有慧者,具備導向生起與滅沒、聖、洞察、導向苦的完全滅盡之慧。(317)
  五淨居:無煩、無熱、善現、善見、阿迦膩吒
  五不還:中般涅槃生般涅槃無行般涅槃有行般涅槃上流到阿迦膩吒。(318)
  五個心荒蕪:學友們!這裡,比丘對大師疑惑、懷疑,不勝解、不確信;學友們!凡那位學友在大師上疑惑、懷疑,不信解、不確信者,他的心不彎向熱心、實踐、堅忍、勤奮;凡他的心不彎向熱心、實踐、堅忍、勤奮者,這是第一個未捨斷的心荒蕪。再者,學友們!比丘在法上疑惑、懷疑……(中略)在僧團上疑惑、懷疑……在學上疑惑、懷疑……在同梵行者上是發怒者、不滿意者,心被打擊者,生起荒蕪(礙)者,比丘們!凡那位比丘在同梵行者上是發怒者、不滿意者,心被打擊者,生起荒蕪者,他的心不彎向熱心、實踐、堅忍、勤奮;凡他的心不彎向熱心、實踐、堅忍、勤奮者,這是第五個未捨斷的心荒蕪。(319)
  五個心繫縛:學友們!這裡,比丘在欲上是未離貪者、未離意欲者、未離情愛者、未離渴望者、未離熱惱者、未離渴愛者,學友們!凡那位比丘在欲上未離貪、未離意欲、未離情愛、未離渴望、未離熱惱、未離渴愛者,他的心不彎向熱心、實踐、堅忍、勤奮;凡他的心不彎向熱心、實踐、堅忍、勤奮者,這是第一個未斷除的心繫縛。學友們!比丘在身體上是未離貪者……(中略)在諸色上是未離貪者……再者,學友們!比丘盡情地、飽飽地吃後住於致力躺臥之樂、橫臥之樂、睡眠之樂……(中略)再者,學友們!比丘志向某個天眾後行梵行:『我將以這個戒,或禁戒,或苦行,或梵行成為天神,或某位天神。』學友們!凡那位比丘志向某個天眾後行梵行:『我將以這個戒,或禁戒,或苦行,或梵行成為天神,或某位天神。』者,他的心不彎向熱心、實踐、堅忍、勤奮;凡他的心不彎向熱心、實踐、堅忍、勤奮者,這是第五個未斷除的心繫縛。
  五根:眼根、耳根、鼻根、舌根、身根。
  下一個五根:樂根、苦根、喜悅根、憂根、平靜根。
  下一個五根:信根、活力根、念根、定根、慧根。(320)
  五出離界:學友們!這裡,當比丘在欲上作意時,心在欲上不躍入、不明淨、不住立、不被解脫,而當作意離欲時,心在離欲上躍入、明淨、住立、被解脫,他的那個心善逝、善修習、善升起、善解脫、離被欲結縛,凡欲諸、惱害、熱惱生起,他從那些被釋放,他不感受那個感受,這被說為欲的出離。
  再者,學友們!當比丘作意惡意時,心在惡意上不躍入、不明淨、不住立、不被解脫,而當作意無惡意時,心在無惡意上躍入、明淨、住立、被解脫,他的那個心善逝、善修習、善升起、善解脫、離被惡意結縛,凡緣惡意諸漏、惱害、熱惱生起,他從那些被釋放,他不感受那個感受,這被說為惡意的出離。
  再者,學友們!當比丘作意加害時,心在加害上不躍入、不明淨、不住立、不被解脫,而當作意無加害時,心在無加害上躍入、明淨、住立、被解脫,他的那個心善逝、善修習、善升起、善解脫、離被加害結縛,凡緣加害諸漏、惱害、熱惱生起,他從那些被釋放,他不感受那個感受,這被說為加害的出離。
  再者,學友們!當比丘在色上作意時,心在色上不躍入、不明淨、不住立、不被解脫,而當作意非色時,心在非色上躍入、明淨、住立、被解脫,他的那個心善逝、善修習、善升起、善解脫、離被色結縛,凡緣色諸漏、惱害、熱惱生起,他從那些被釋放,他不感受那個感受,這被說為色的出離。
  再者,學友們!當比丘作意有身時,心在有身上不躍入、不明淨、不住立、不被解脫,而當作意有身滅時,心在有身滅上躍入、明淨、住立、被解脫,他的那個心善逝、善修習、善升起、善解脫、離被有身結縛,凡緣有身諸漏、惱害、熱惱生起,他從那些被釋放,他不感受那個感受,這被說為有身的出離。(321)
  五解脫處:學友們!這裡,比丘的大師或其他老師地位的同梵行者教導法,學友們!比丘的大師或老師地位的同梵行者如是如是地教導法,他如是如是地在那些法上成為道理的感受者與法的感受者,對那位道理的感受者、法的感受者,欣悅被生起;對喜悅者,被生起;對意喜者,身變得寧靜身已寧靜者感受樂;對有樂者,心入定,這是第一種解脫處。
  再者,學友們!沒有比丘的大師或其他老師地位的同梵行者教導法,但他詳細地教導他人如所聞的、如所學得的法……(中略)但他詳細地誦讀如所聞的、如所學得的法……(中略)但他以心隨尋思、隨伺察被心隨觀察所聞、所遍學得的法……(中略)但某個定相被他以慧善把握、善作意、善考慮、善貫通,學友們!比丘的某個定相被他以慧如是如是地善把握、善作意、善考慮、善貫通,他如是如是地在那些法上成為道理的感受者與法的感受者,對那位道理的感受者、法的感受者,欣悅被生起;對喜悅者喜被生,對意喜者來說身變得寧靜,身已寧靜者感受樂;對有樂者,心入定,這是第五種解脫處。
  五種使解脫成熟的想:無常想、在無常上苦想、在苦上無我想、捨斷想、離貪想。
  學友們!這些是五法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。(322)

  學友們!有六法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。哪些六呢?
  六內處:眼處、耳處、鼻處、舌處、身處、意處。
  六外處:色處、聲處、氣味處、味道處、所觸處、法處。
  六類識:眼識、耳識、鼻識、舌識、身識、意識。
  六類觸:眼觸、耳觸、鼻觸、舌觸、身觸、意觸。
  六類受:眼觸所生受、耳觸所生受、鼻觸所生受、舌觸所生受、身觸所生受、意觸所生受。
  六類想:色想、聲想、氣味想、味道想、所觸想、法想。
  六類思:色思、聲思、氣味思、味道思、所觸思、法思。
  六類渴愛:色的渴愛、聲的渴愛、氣味的渴愛、味道的渴愛、所觸的渴愛、法的渴愛。(323)
  六不尊敬:學友們!這裡,比丘住於對大師不尊敬、不順從,住於對法不尊敬、不順從,住於對僧團不尊敬、不順從,對學不尊敬、不順從,住於對不放逸不尊敬、不順從,住於對友善親切不尊敬、不順從。
  六尊敬:學友們!這裡,比丘住於對大師尊敬、順從,住於對法尊敬、順從,住於對僧團尊敬、順從,住於對學尊敬、順從,住於對不放逸尊敬、順從,住於對友善親切尊敬、順從。
  六種喜悅近伺察:以眼見色後,順喜悅處近伺察色;以耳聽聲音後……以鼻聞氣味後……以舌嚐味道後……以身接觸所觸後……以意識知法後,順喜悅處近伺察法。
  六種憂近伺察:以眼見色後,順憂處近伺察色;以耳聽聲音後……以鼻聞氣味後……以舌嚐味道後……以身接觸所觸後……以意識知法後,順憂處近伺察法。
  六種平靜近伺察:以眼見色後,順平靜處近伺察色;以耳聽聲音後……以鼻聞氣味後……以舌嚐味道後……以身接觸所觸後……以意識知法後,順平靜處近伺察法。
  六友好法:學友們!這裡,比丘的慈身業在同梵行者們上公開地連同私下地被現起,這是可愛所做的,尊重所做的友好法,轉起凝聚、無諍論、和合、一致性
  再者,學友們!比丘的慈語業在同梵行者們上公開地連同私下地被現起,這也是可愛所做的,尊重所做的友好法,轉起凝聚、無諍論、和合、一致性。
  再者,學友們!比丘的慈意業在同梵行者們上公開地連同私下地被現起,這也是可愛所做的,尊重所做的友好法,轉起凝聚、無諍論、和合、一致性。
  再者,學友們!凡那些如法所得的如法利得,乃至連鉢裡(鉢繫屬)的量,比丘是以像這樣利得平等受用者、與持有同梵行者共同受用者,這也是可愛所做的,尊重所做的友好法,轉起凝聚、無諍論、和合、一致性。
  再者,學友們!凡那些無毀壞的、無瑕疵的、無污點的、無雜色的、自由的、智者所稱讚的、不取著的、轉起定的戒,比丘在像這樣的戒上與同梵行者公開地連同私下地住於戒達到一致的,這也是可愛所做的,尊重所做的友好法,轉起凝聚、無諍論、和合、一致性。
  再者,學友們!凡這聖的、出離的見領導那樣的行為者到苦的完全滅盡,比丘在像這樣的見上與同梵行者公開地連同私下地住於見達到一致的,這也是可愛所做的,尊重所做的友好法,轉起凝聚、無諍論、和合、一致性。(324)
  六個諍論根:學友們!這裡,比丘是有憤怒者、怨恨者,學友們!凡那位比丘是有憤怒者、怨恨者,他住於對大師不尊重、不順從,住於對法不尊重、不順從,住於對僧團不尊重、不順從,在學上不是全分行者,學友們!凡那位比丘住於對大師不尊重、不順從,住於對法不尊重、不順從,住於對僧團不尊重、不順從,在學上不是全分行者,他在僧團中生起諍論:凡諍論是對許多人不利,對許多人不樂,對天-人們無利益、不利、苦。學友們!如果你們在內部或外部看見像這樣的諍論根,學友們!在那裡,你們應該努力捨斷那惡諍論根,學友們!如果你們在內部或外部沒看見像這樣的諍論根,學友們!在那裡,你們應該為了那惡諍論根未來的無流漏而實行,這樣,這是對惡諍論根的捨斷,這樣,這是惡諍論根未來的無流漏。
  再者,學友們!這裡,比丘是藏惡者、專橫者……(中略)嫉妒者、慳吝者……(中略)狡猾者、偽詐者……(中略)惡欲求者、邪見者……(中略)固執己見、倔強、難棄捨者,學友們!凡那位比丘是固執己見、倔強、難棄捨者,他住於對大師不尊重、不順從,住於對法不尊重、不順從,住於對僧團不尊重、不順從,在學上不是全分行者,學友們!凡那位比丘住於對大師不尊重、不順從,住於對法不尊重、不順從,住於對僧團不尊重、不順從,在學上不是全分行者,他在僧團中生起諍論:凡諍論是對許多人不利,對許多人不樂,對天-人們無利益、不利、苦。學友們!如果你們在內部或外部看見像這樣的諍論根,學友們!在那裡,你們應該努力捨斷那惡諍論根,學友們!如果你們在內部或外部沒看見像這樣的諍論根,學友們!在那裡,你們應該為了那惡諍論根未來的無流漏而實行,這樣,這是對惡諍論根的捨斷,這樣,這是惡諍論根未來的無流漏。
  六界:地界、水界、火界、風界、空界、識界。(325)

  學友們!又,這裡,如果比丘說這個:『我的悲心解脫被修習、被多作、被作為車輛、被作為基礎、被實行、被累積、被善努力,然而,加害[仍]持續遍取我的心。』他應該被回答:『不要這樣,尊者不要這麼說,不要誹謗世尊,因為,對世尊的誹謗不好是不好的,世尊確實不會說這個。學友!這是無可能性、無機會:在悲心解脫被修習、被多作、被作為車輛、被作為基礎、被實行、被累積、被善努力時,然而,加害持續遍取他的心,這不存在可能性,學友!因為,這是加害的出離,即:悲心解脫。』
  學友們!又,這裡,如果比丘說這個:『我的習喜悅心解脫被修習、被多作、被作為車輛、被作為基礎、被實行、被累積、被善努力,然而,不樂[仍]持續遍取我的心。』他應該被回答:『不要這樣,尊者不要這麼說,不要誹謗世尊,因為,對世尊的誹謗不好是不好的,世尊確實不會說這個。學友!這是無可能性、無機會:在喜悅心解脫被修習、被多作、被作為車輛、被作為基礎、被實行、被累積、被善努力時,然而,不樂持續遍取他的心,這不存在可能性,學友!因為,這是不樂的出離,即:喜悅心解脫。』
  學友們!又,這裡,如果比丘說這個:『我的平靜心解脫被修習、被多作、被作為車輛、被作為基礎、被實行、被累積、被善努力,然而,貪[仍]持續遍取我的心。』他應該被回答:『不要這樣,尊者不要這麼說,不要誹謗世尊,因為,對世尊的誹謗不好是不好的,世尊確實不會說這個。學友!這是無可能性、無機會:在平靜心解脫被修習、被多作、被作為車輛、被作為基礎、被實行、被累積、被善努力時,然而,貪持續遍取他的心,這不存在可能性,學友!因為,這是貪的出離,即:平靜心解脫。』
  學友們!又,這裡,如果比丘說這個:『我的無相心解脫被修習、被多作、被作為車輛、被作為基礎、被實行、被累積、被善努力,然而,我的識[仍]是相的隨行者。』他應該被回答:『不要這樣,尊者不要這麼說,不要誹謗世尊,因為,對世尊的誹謗不好是不好的,世尊確實不會說這個。學友!這是無可能性、無機會:在無相心解脫被修習、被多作、被作為車輛、被作為基礎、被實行、被累積、被善努力時,然而,他將有識的隨行相,這不存在可能性,學友!因為,這是一切相的出離,即:無相心解脫。』
  學友們!又,這裡,如果比丘說這個:『我的「我是」[觀念]已離,我不認為[任何東西為]「我是這個」,然而,疑惑、懷疑之箭[仍]遍取我的心後住立。』他應該被回答:『不要這樣,尊者!不要這麼說!不要誹謗世尊,對世尊的誹謗是不好的,世尊不會說這個。學友!這是無可能性、無機會:凡在「我是」[觀念]上已離,不認為[任何東西為]「我是這個」者,然而,疑惑、懷疑之箭[仍]遍取他的心後住立,這不存在可能性。學友!這是疑惑、懷疑之箭的出離,即:我是之慢的根除。』(326)
  六無上:無上的看見、無上的聽聞、無上的利得、無上的學、無上的服侍、無上的隨念。
  六隨念處佛隨念、法隨念、僧團隨念、戒隨念、施捨隨念、天隨念。(327)
  六常住處:學友們!這裡,比丘以眼見色後,既不快樂也不難過而住於平靜的、具念的、正知的;以耳聽聲音後……(中略)以意識知法後,既不快樂也不難過而住於平靜,是具念的、正知的。(328)
  六種出身:學友們!這裡,存在某些黑出身者產生黑法,學友們!這裡,存在某些黑出身者產生白法,學友們!這裡,存在某些黑出身者產生非黑非白的涅槃,學友們!這裡,存在某些白出身者產生白法,學友們!這裡,存在某些白出身者產生黑法,學友們!這裡,存在某些白出身者產生非黑非白的涅槃。
  六種洞察分想:無常想、在無常上苦想、在苦上無我想、捨斷想、離貪想、滅想。

  學友們!有七法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。哪些七呢?
  七聖財:信財、戒財、慚財、愧財、聽聞財、施捨財、慧財。

  七定的資助:正見、正志、正語、正業、正命、正精進、正念。
  七非正法:學友們!這裡,比丘是無信者、無慚者、無愧者、少聞者、懈怠者、念已忘失者、劣慧者。
  七正法:學友們!這裡,比丘是有信者、有慚者、有愧者、多聞者、活力已被發動者、念已現起者、有慧者。
  七善人法:學友們!這裡,比丘是知法者、知義者、知自己者、知量者、知時機者、知眾者、知人之勝劣者。(330)
  七個無十之事:學友們!這裡,比丘是極欲受持學者,並且在未來也是不離愛受持學者。他是極欲注意法者,並且在未來也是不離愛注意法者。他是極欲調伏欲求者,並且在未來也是不離愛調伏欲求者。他是極欲獨坐者,並且在未來也是不離愛獨坐者。他是極欲活力發動者,並且在未來也是不離愛活力發動者。他是極欲念與聰敏者,並且在未來也是不離愛念與聰敏者。他是極欲以見貫通者,並且在未來也是不離愛以見貫通者。
  七想:無常想、無我想、不淨想、過患想、捨斷想、離貪想、滅想。
  七力:信力、活力之力、慚力、愧力、念力、定力、慧力。(331)
  七識住:學友們!有種種身、種種想的眾生,猶如:人、某些天、某些墮下界者,這是第一識住。
  學友們!有種種身、單一想的眾生,猶如:以第一[禪]往生的梵眾天,這是第二識住。
  學友們!有單一身、種種想的眾生,猶如:光音天,這是第三識住。
  學友們!有單一身、單一想的眾生,猶如:遍淨天,這是第四識住。
  學友們!有從一切色想的超越,從有對想的滅沒,從不作意種種想[而知]:『虛空是無邊的』,到虛空無邊處的眾生,這是第五識住。
  學友們!有超越一切虛空無邊處後[而知]:『識是無邊的』,到識無邊處的眾生,這是第六識住。
  學友們!有超越一切識無邊處後[而知]:『什麼都沒有』,到無所有處的眾生,這是第七識住。
  七應該被供養人:俱分解脫者慧解脫者身證者達到見者信解脫者隨法行者隨信行者
  七煩惱潛在趨勢欲貪煩惱潛在趨勢嫌惡煩惱潛在趨勢見煩惱潛在趨勢疑煩惱潛在趨勢慢煩惱潛在趨勢有貪煩惱潛在趨勢無明煩惱潛在趨勢
  七結:討好結、嫌惡結、見結、疑結、慢結、有貪結、無明結。
  七種諍訟的止息面前毘尼應該被給與、憶念毘尼應該被給與、不癡毘尼應該被給與、應該使承認被做、多數決覓罪相草覆蓋
  學友們!這些是七法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。(332)

  學友們!有八法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。哪些八呢?
  八邪性:邪見、邪志、邪語、邪業、邪命、邪精進、邪念、邪定。
  八正性:正見、正志、正語、正業、正命、正精進、正念、正定。
  八應該被供養人:入流者為了入流果的作證之行者一來者、為了一來果的作證之行者、不還者、為了不還果的作證之行者、阿羅漢、為了阿羅漢果的作證之行者。(333)
  八種懈怠事:學友們!這裡,有應該被比丘做的工作,他這麼想:『將有我應該做的工作,但當做工作時,我的身體將疲勞,來吧!我要躺臥。』他躺臥,不為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力,這是第一種懈怠事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,有應該被比丘做的工作,他這麼想:『我做了工作,但當做工作時,我的身體已疲勞,來吧!我要躺臥。』他躺臥,不……(中略),激發活力,這是第二種懈怠事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,有應該被比丘走的道路,他這麼想:『將有我應該走的道路,但當行走道路時,我的身體將疲勞,來吧!我要躺臥。』他躺臥,不……,激發活力,這是第三種懈怠事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,有應該被比丘走的道路,他這麼想:『我走了道路,但當行走道路時,我的身體已疲勞,來吧!我要躺臥。』他躺臥,不……,激發活力,這是第四種懈怠事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,當比丘為了托鉢行走村落或城鎮時,沒得到想要完成的或粗或勝妙的食物,他這麼想:『當我為了托鉢行走村落或城鎮時,沒得到想要完成的或粗或勝妙的食物,我的身體已疲勞、不適合工作,來吧!我要躺臥。』他躺臥,不……,激發活力,這是第五種懈怠事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,當比丘為了托鉢行走村落或城鎮時,得到想要完成的或粗或勝妙的食物,他這麼想:『當我為了托鉢行走村落或城鎮時,得到了想要完成的或粗或勝妙的食物,我的身體沉重、不適合工作,看起來像被豆子堆積,來吧!我要躺臥。』他躺臥,不……,激發活力,這是第六種懈怠事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,比丘生了小病,他這麼想:『我生了這小病,是適合躺臥的,來吧!我要躺臥。』他躺臥,不……,激發活力,這是第七種懈怠事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,比丘病已康復,從病中康復不久,他這麼想:『我病已康復,從病中康復不久,我的身體無力、不適合工作,來吧!我要躺臥。』他躺臥,不為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力,這是第八種懈怠事。(334)
  八種發勤事:學友們!這裡,有應該被比丘做的工作,他這麼想:『將有我應該做的工作,但當做工作時,對我來說不容易作意世尊的教說,來吧!我要為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力!』他為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力,這是第一種發勤事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,有應該被比丘做的工作,他這麼想:『我做了工作,但當做工作時,我不能作意世尊的教說,來吧!我要為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力!』他……(中略)激發活力,這是第二種發勤事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,有應該被比丘走的道路,他這麼想:『將有我應該走的道路,但當行走道路時,對我來說不容易作意世尊的教說,來吧!我要為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力!』他……(中略)激發活力,這是第三種發勤事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,有應該被比丘走的道路,他這麼想:『我走了道路,但當行走道路時,我不能作意世尊的教說,來吧!我要為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力!』他……(中略)激發活力,這是第四種發勤事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,當比丘為了托鉢行走村落或城鎮時,沒得到想要完成的或粗或勝妙的食物,他這麼想:『當我為了托鉢行走村落或城鎮時,沒得到想要完成的或粗或勝妙的食物,我的身體輕盈、適合工作,來吧!我要為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力!』他……(中略)激發活力,這是第五種發勤事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,當比丘為了托鉢行走村落或城鎮時,得到想要完成的或粗或勝妙的食物,他這麼想:『當我為了托鉢行走村落或城鎮時,得到了想要完成的或粗或勝妙的食物,我的身體有力、適合工作,來吧!我要為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力!』他……(中略)激發活力,這是第六種發勤事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,比丘生了小病,他這麼想:『我生了這小病,這存在可能性:我的病會加重,來吧!我要為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力!』他……(中略)激發活力,這是第七種發勤事。
  再者,學友們!這裡,比丘病已康復,從病中康復不久,他這麼想:『我病已康復,從病中康復不久,這存在可能性:我的病會返回,來吧!我要為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力!』他為了未得到的之得到、未達到的之達到、未作證的之作證激發活力,這是第八種發勤事。(335)
  八種布施事:[機會]接近而施與布施、以害怕而施與布施、[以]『他給過我』而施與布施、[以]『他將會給我』而施與布施、[以]『布施是好的』而施與布施、[心想:]『我煮,這些人沒煮,煮的人不施與布施[給]沒煮的人對我不適當。』而施與布施、[心想:]『當施與布施時,我的好名聲傳出去。』而施與布施、[以]心的裝飾與心的資糧而施與布施。(336)
  八種布施的往生:學友們!這裡,某人對沙門或婆羅門與食物、飲料、衣服、交通工具、花環、香料、塗油、臥床、房舍、燈燭之布施,當他施與時,他期待,他看見賦有、擁有五種欲自娛的大財富剎帝利或大財富婆羅門或大財富屋主,他這麼想:『啊!願我以身體的崩解,死後往生大財富剎帝利或大財富婆羅門或大財富屋主們的共住狀態。』他在那上面安置心、站穩心、修習心,他的那個心{解脫}[勝解]於下劣的,不修習更上的而轉起在那裡的往生,我說,那是對持戒者而非對破戒者,學友們!持戒者心的誓願以清淨性而成功。
  再者,學友們!這裡,某人對沙門或婆羅門施與食物、飲料……(中略)燈燭的布施,他有期待地施與,他聽聞:『四大王天的天神們長壽、美貌、多安樂。』他這麼想:『啊!願我以身體的崩解,死後往生四大王天的天神們的共住狀態。』他安置那個心,站穩那個心,修習那個心,他的那個心{解脫}[勝解]於下劣的,不修習更上的而轉起在那裡的往生,我說,那是對持戒者,非對破戒者,學友們!持戒者心的誓願以清淨性而成功。
  再者,學友們!這裡,某人對沙門或婆羅門施與食物、飲料……(中略)燈燭的布施,他有期待地施與,他聽聞:『三十三天的天神們……(中略)焰摩天的天神們……(中略)兜率天的天神們……(中略)化樂天的天神們……(中略)他化自在天的天神們長壽、美貌、多安樂。』他這麼想:『啊!願我以身體的崩解,死後往生他化自在天的天神們的共住狀態。』他安置那個心,站穩那個心,修習那個心,他的那個心{解脫}[勝解]於下劣的,不修習更上的而轉起在那裡的往生,我說,那是對持戒者而非對破戒者,學友們!持戒者心的誓願以清淨性而成功。
  再者,學友們!這裡,某人對沙門或婆羅門施與食物、飲料、衣服、交通工具、花環、香料、塗油、臥床、房舍、燈燭的布施,他有期待地施與,他聽聞:『梵眾天的天神們長壽、美貌、多安樂。』他這麼想:『啊!願我以身體的崩解,死後往生梵眾天的天神們的共住狀態。』他安置那個心,站穩那個心,修習那個心,他的那個心{解脫}[勝解]於下劣的,不修習更上的而轉起在那裡的往生,我說,那是對持戒者而非對破戒者,對離貪者而非對有貪者,學友們!持戒者心的誓願以離貪性而成功。
  八眾:剎帝利眾、婆羅門眾、屋主眾、沙門眾、四大王天眾、三十三天眾、魔眾、梵天眾。
  八世間法:得到與沒得到、有名與無名、毀與譽、樂與苦。(337)
  八勝處
  某位內有色想者見少的、美的、醜的諸外色,征服它們後,成為這樣想者:『我知道,我看見。』這是第一個勝處。
  某位內有色想者見無量的、美的、醜的諸外色,征服它們後,成為這樣想者:『我知道,我看見。』這是第二個勝處。
  某位內無色想者見少的、美的、醜的諸外色,征服它們後,成為這樣想者:『我知道,我看見。』這是第三個勝處。
  某位內無色想者見無量的、美的、醜的諸外色,征服它們後,成為這樣想者:『我知道,我看見。』這是第四個勝處。
  某位內無色想者見青的、青色、青色外觀的、青色光澤的的諸外色,猶如青的、青色、青色外觀的、青色光澤的亞麻花;又或猶如青的、青色、青色外觀的、青色光澤的波羅奈生產,兩邊都整理得光滑的衣服。同樣的,內無色想者見青的、青色、青色外觀的、青色光澤的諸外色,征服它們後,成為這樣想者:『我知道,我看見。』這是第五個勝處。
  某位內無色想者見黃的、黃色、黃色外觀的、黃色光澤的的諸外色,猶如黃的、黃色、黃色外觀的、黃色光澤的黃花樹花;又或猶如黃的、黃色、黃色外觀的、黃色光澤的波羅奈生產,兩邊都整理得光滑的衣服。同樣的,內無色想者見黃的、黃色、黃色外觀的、黃色光澤的諸外色,征服它們後,成為這樣想者:『我知道,我看見。』這是第六個勝處。
  某位內無色想者見赤的、赤色、赤色外觀的、赤色光澤的的諸外色,猶如赤的、赤色、赤色外觀的、赤色光澤的朱槿花;又或猶如赤的、赤色、赤色外觀的、赤色光澤的波羅奈生產,兩邊都整理得光滑的衣服。同樣的,內無色想者見赤的、赤色、赤色外觀的、赤色光澤的諸外色,征服它們後,成為這樣想者:『我知道,我看見。』這是第七個勝處。
  某位內無色想者見白的、白色、白色外觀的、白色光澤的的諸外色,猶如白的、白色、白色外觀的、白色光澤的太白星;又或猶如白的、白色、白色外觀的、白色光澤的波羅奈生產,兩邊都整理得光滑的衣服。同樣的,內無色想者見白的、白色、白色外觀的、白色光澤的諸外色,征服它們後,成為這樣想者:『我知道,我看見。』這是第八個勝處。(338)
  八解脫:有色者見諸色,這是第一解脫。
  內無色想者見外諸色,這是第二解脫。
  只志向清淨的,這是第三解脫。
  從一切色想的超越,從有對想的滅沒,從不作意種種想[而知]:『虛空是無邊的』,進入後住於虛空無邊處,這是第四解脫。超越一切虛空無邊處後[而知]:『識是無邊的』,進入後住於識無邊處,這是第五解脫。
  超越一切識無邊處後[而知]:『什麼都沒有』,進入後住於無所有處,這是第六解脫。
  超越一切無所有處後,進入後住於非想非非想處,這是第七解脫。
  超越一切非想非非想處後,進入後住於想受滅,這是第八解脫。
  學友們!這些是八法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。(339)

  學友們!有九法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。哪些九呢?
  九嫌恨事:[心想:]『他已對我行不利(無利益)』而嫌恨、[心想:]『他對我行不利』而懷嫌恨、[心想:]『他將對我行不利』而懷嫌恨、[心想:]『他已對我的可愛、合意者行不利』而懷嫌恨、[心想:]『他對我的可愛、合意者行不利』而懷嫌恨、[心想:]『他將對我的可愛、合意者行不利』而懷嫌恨、[心想:]『他已對我的不可愛、不合意者行有利(有利益)』而懷嫌恨、[心想:]『他對我的不可愛、不合意者行有利』而懷嫌恨、[心想:]『他將對我的不可愛、不合意者行有利』而懷嫌恨。
  九嫌恨的調伏:[心想:]『他已對我行不利,在這裡,那如何可得。』而除去嫌恨、[心想:]『他對我行不利,在這裡,那如何可得。』而除去嫌恨、[心想:]『他將對我行不利,在這裡,那如何可得。』而除去嫌恨、[心想:]『他已對我的可愛、合意者行不利……(中略)行不利……(中略)將對我的可愛、合意者行不利,在這裡,那如何可得。』而除去嫌恨、[心想:]『他已對我的不可愛、不合意者行有利……(中略)行有利……(中略)他將對我的不可愛、不合意者行有利,在這裡,那如何可得。』而除去嫌恨。(340)
  九眾生住所:學友們!有種種身、種種想的眾生,猶如:人、某些天、某些墮下界者,這是第一眾生住所。
  學友們!有種種身、單一想的眾生,猶如:以第一[禪]往生的梵眾天,這是第二眾生住所。
  學友們!有單一身、種種想的眾生,猶如:光音天,這是第三眾生住所。
  學友們!有單一身、單一想的眾生,猶如:遍淨天,這是第四眾生住所。
  學友們!有無想、無感知的眾生,猶如:無想眾生天,這是第五眾生住所。

  學友們!有超越一切虛空無邊處後[而知]:『識是無邊的』,到識無邊處的眾生,這是第七眾生住所。
  學友們!有超越一切識無邊處後[而知]:『什麼都沒有』,到無所有處的眾生,這是第八眾生住所。
  學友們!有超越一切無所有處後,到非想非非想處的眾生,這是第九眾生住所。(341)
  九種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時:學友們!這裡,如來、阿羅漢、遍正覺者在世間出現,並且使成為寂靜、使成為般涅槃、導向正覺、善逝所宣說的法被教導,但,這個人往生在地獄,這是第一種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時。
  再者,學友們!如來、阿羅漢、遍正覺者在世間出現,並且使成為寂靜、使成為般涅槃、導向正覺、善逝所宣說的法被教導,但,這個人往生在畜生界,這是第二種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時。
  再者……(中略)但,這個人往生在餓鬼界,這是第三種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時。
  再者……(中略)但,這個人往生在阿修羅眾,這是第四種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時。
  再者……(中略)但,這個人往生在某個長壽天眾,這是第五種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時。
  再者……(中略)但,這個人再生於邊地地方無知蠻族中,無比丘、比丘尼、優婆塞優婆夷所到之處,這是第六種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時。
  再者……(中略)而這個人再生在中央地方,但,他有邪見、顛倒見:『沒有被施與的,沒有被祭祀的,沒有被供養的,沒有善作惡作業的果、果報,沒有這個世間,沒有其他世間,沒有母親,沒有父親,沒有化生眾生,在世間中沒有正行的、正行道的沙門、婆羅門以證智自作證後告知這個世間與其他世間。』這是第七種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時。
  再者……(中略)而這個人再生在中央地方,但,他是劣慧者、愚鈍者、聾啞者,無能力了知善說與惡說的道理,這是第八種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時。
  再者,學友們!如來、阿羅漢、遍正覺者不在世間出現,並且使成為寂靜、使成為般涅槃、導向正覺、善逝所宣說的法不被教導,而這個人再生在中央地方,且,他是有慧者、非愚鈍者、非聾啞者,有能力了知善說與惡說的道理,這是第九種對梵行生活的非時節、不適時。(342)
  九次第住處:學友們!這裡,比丘就從離諸欲後,從離諸不善法後,進入後住於有尋、有伺,離而生喜、樂的初禪;從尋與伺的平息,自身內的明淨,心的專一性,進入後住於無尋、無伺,定而生喜、樂的第二禪;從喜的褪去、住於平靜、有念正知、以身體感受樂,進入後住於凡聖者們宣說它『是平靜的、具念的、安樂住的』的第三禪;從樂的捨斷與從苦的捨斷,就在之前諸喜悅、憂的滅沒,進入後住於不苦不樂,由平靜而遍淨之念的第四禪。比丘從一切色想的超越,從有對想的滅沒,從不作意種種想[而知]:『虛空是無邊的』,進入後住於虛空無邊處;超越一切虛空無邊處後[而知]:『識是無邊的』,進入後住於識無邊處;超越一切識無邊處後[而知]:『什麼都沒有』,進入後住於無所有處;超越一切無所有處後,進入後住於非想非非想處。超越一切非想非非想處後,進入後住於想受滅。(343)
  九次第滅:對已入初禪者來說,欲想被滅。對已入第二禪者來說,尋、伺被滅。對已入第三禪者來說,喜被滅。對已入第四禪者來說,入息、出息被滅。對已入虛空無邊處者來說,色想被滅。對已入識無邊處者來說,虛空無邊處想被滅。對已入無所有處者來說,識無邊處想被滅。對已入非想非非想處者來說,無所有處想被滅。對已入想受滅者來說,想與受被滅。
  學友們!這些是九法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。(344)

  學友們!有十法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集……(中略)為了天-人們的利益、福利、安樂。哪些十呢?
  十個作為庇護者之法:學友們!這裡,比丘是持戒者,住於被波羅提木叉的自制防護,具足正行行境,在諸微罪中看見可怕的,在諸學處上受持後學習,學友們!凡比丘是持戒者,住於被波羅提木叉自制防護,具足正行行境,在諸微罪中看見可怕的,在諸學處上受持後學習者,這是作為庇護者之法。
  再者,學友們!比丘是多聞者、所聽聞的憶持者、所聽聞的蓄積者,凡那些開頭是善的、中間是善的、完結是善的;有意義的有文字的諸法:那些宣說完全圓滿、遍清淨的梵行,像這樣的諸法被他多聞、被憶持、被言語累積、被心隨觀察、被見善貫通,學友們!凡比丘是多聞者……(中略)被見善貫通者,這是作為庇護者之法。
  再者,學友們!比丘有善友、善伴侶、善同志,學友們!凡比丘有善友、善伴侶、善同志者,這是作為庇護者之法。
  再者,學友們!比丘是易順從糾正者,具備作易順從糾正法,是接受者,善於理解教誡,學友們!凡比丘是易順從糾正者,具備作易順從糾正法,是接受者,善於理解教誡,這是作為庇護者之法。
  再者,學友們!凡比丘對同梵行者各種不同應該作的,在那裡,他是熟練者、不懶惰者,具備足以執行、足以安排的適當方法與思察,學友們!凡比丘對同梵行者……(中略)適當的安排者,這是作為庇護者之法。
  再者,學友們!比丘是法的愛欲者,可愛的對話者,在阿毘達磨、阿毘毘奈耶上廣大的欣喜者,學友們!凡比丘是法的愛欲者……(中略)廣大的欣喜者,這是作為庇護者之法。
  再者,學友們!比丘被無論怎樣的衣服、施食、住處、病人需要物、醫藥必需品滿足,學友們!凡比丘……(中略)醫藥必需品滿足,這是作為庇護者之法。
  再者,學友們!比丘為了不善法的捨斷、為了善法的具足,住於活力已被發動的、剛毅的、堅固努力的、在諸善法上不放下負擔的,學友們!凡比丘住於為了不善法的捨斷……(中略)在諸善法上不放下負擔者,這是作為庇護者之法。
  再者,學友們!比丘是有念者,具備最高的念與聰敏,是很久以前做過的及很久以前說過的記得者、回憶者,學友們!凡比丘是有念者……(中略)很久以前說過的記憶者與回憶者,這是作為庇護者之法。
  再者,學友們!比丘是有慧者,具備導向生起與滅沒之慧;聖、洞察,導向苦的完全滅盡[之慧],學友們!凡比丘是有慧者……(中略)導向苦的完全滅盡[之慧]者,這是作為庇護者之法。(345)
  十遍處認知地遍:上、下、水平四方無二種、無量;認知水遍……(中略)認知火遍……(中略)認知風遍……(中略)認知青遍……(中略)認知黃遍……(中略)認知赤遍……(中略)認知白遍……(中略)認知虛空遍……(中略)認知識遍:上、下、水平四方無二種、無量。(346)
  十不善業之路:殺生、未給予而取、邪淫、妄語、離間語、粗惡語、雜穢語、貪婪、惡意、邪見。
  十善業之路:殺生的戒絕、未給予而取的戒絕、邪淫的戒絕、妄語的戒絕、離間語的戒絕、粗惡語的戒絕、雜穢語的戒絕、不貪婪、無惡意、正見。(347)
  十個聖者的住所:學友們!這裡,比丘是五支已捨斷者、六支已具備者,有一個守護、四個倚靠,是各自真理已除去者、尋求已捨並徹底衰滅者、無混濁意向者、身行已寧靜者、心善解脫者、慧善解脫者。
  學友們!怎樣比丘是五支已捨斷者呢?學友們!這裡,比丘的欲的意欲已被捨斷,惡意已被捨斷,惛沈睡眠已被捨斷,掉舉後悔已被捨斷,疑惑已被捨斷,學友們!這樣,比丘是五支已捨斷者。
  學友們!怎樣比丘是六支已具備者呢?學友們!這裡,比丘以眼見色後,既不快樂也不難過而住於平靜,是具念的、正知的;以耳聽聲音後……(中略)以意識知法後,既不快樂也不難過而住於平靜,是具念的、正知的,學友們!這樣,比丘是六支已具備者。
  學友們!比丘怎樣有一個守護呢?學友們!這裡,比丘具備念守護的心,學友們!這樣,比丘有一個守護。
  學友們!比丘怎樣有四個倚靠呢?學友們!這裡,比丘考量後受用一事,考量後忍受一事,考量後避開一事,考量後除去一事,學友們!這樣,比丘有四個倚靠。
  學友們!怎樣比丘是各自真理已除去者呢?學友們!這裡,比丘的所有個個沙門、婆羅門的個個各自真理,全部都被破除、被除去、被捨、被吐、被釋放、被捨斷、被斷念,學友們!這樣,比丘是各自真理已除去者。
  學友們!怎樣比丘是尋求已捨並徹底衰滅者呢?學友們!這裡,比丘之欲的尋求已被捨斷、有的尋求已被捨斷、梵行的尋求已被安息,學友們!這樣,比丘是尋求已捨並徹底衰滅者。
  學友們!怎樣比丘是無混濁意向者呢?學友們!這裡,比丘之欲的意向已被捨斷、惡意的意向已被捨斷、加害的意向已被捨斷,學友們!這樣,比丘是無混濁意向者。
  學友們!怎樣比丘是身行已寧靜者呢?學友們!這裡,比丘從樂的捨斷與從苦的捨斷,就在之前諸喜悅、憂的滅沒,進入後住於不苦不樂,由平靜而遍淨之念的第四禪,學友們!這樣,比丘是身行已寧靜者。
  學友們!怎樣比丘是心善解脫者呢?學友們!這裡,比丘之貪的心被解脫、瞋的心被解脫、癡的心被解脫,學友們!這樣,比丘是心善解脫者。
  學友們!怎樣比丘是慧善解脫者呢?學友們!這裡,比丘了知:『對我來說貪已被捨斷,根已被切斷,[如]已斷根的棕櫚樹成為非有為未來不生之物。』了知:『對我來說瞋已被捨斷,根已被切斷,[如]已斷根的棕櫚樹,成為非有,為未來不生之物。』了知:『對我來說癡已被捨斷,根已被切斷,[如]已斷根的棕櫚樹,成為非有,為未來不生之物。』學友們!這樣,比丘是慧善解脫者。
  十無學法:無學正見、無學正志、無學正語、無學正業、無學正命、無學正精進、無學正念、無學正定、無學正智、無學正解脫。
  這些是十法被那有知、有見的世尊、阿羅漢、遍正覺者正確地講述,在那裡,應該就全部結集,不應該爭論,以便這梵行會是長時間、長久地住立的,那會是對眾人的利益,對眾人的安樂,對世間的憐愍,對天-人們的需要、利益、安樂。」(348)
  那時,世尊站起來後,召喚尊者舍利弗:
  「!好!舍利弗!好!舍利弗!你對比丘們說結集法門。」
  尊者舍利弗說這個,大師是認可者。
  那些悅意的比丘歡喜尊者舍利弗所說。(349)

DN.33/(10) Saṅgītisuttaṃ
   296. Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā mallesu cārikaṃ caramāno mahatā bhikkhusaṅghena saddhiṃ pañcamattehi bhikkhusatehi yena pāvā nāma mallānaṃ nagaraṃ tadavasari. Tatra sudaṃ bhagavā pāvāyaṃ viharati cundassa kammāraputtassa ambavane.
Ubbhatakanavasandhāgāraṃ
   297. Tena kho pana samayena pāveyyakānaṃ mallānaṃ ubbhatakaṃ nāma navaṃ sandhāgāraṃ acirakāritaṃ hoti anajjhāvuṭṭhaṃ samaṇena vā brāhmaṇena vā kenaci vā manussabhūtena. Assosuṃ kho pāveyyakā mallā– “bhagavā kira mallesu cārikaṃ caramāno mahatā bhikkhusaṅghena saddhiṃ pañcamattehi bhikkhusatehi pāvaṃ anuppatto pāvāyaṃ viharati cundassa kammāraputtassa ambavane”ti. Atha kho pāveyyakā mallā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃsu. Ekamantaṃ nisinnā kho pāveyyakā mallā bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ– “idha, bhante, pāveyyakānaṃ mallānaṃ ubbhatakaṃ nāma navaṃ sandhāgāraṃ acirakāritaṃ hoti anajjhāvuṭṭhaṃ samaṇena vā brāhmaṇena vā kenaci vā manussabhūtena. Tañca kho, bhante, bhagavā paṭhamaṃ paribhuñjatu, bhagavatā paṭhamaṃ paribhuttaṃ pacchā pāveyyakā mallā paribhuñjissanti. Tadassa pāveyyakānaṃ mallānaṃ dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāyā”ti. Adhivāsesi kho bhagavā tuṇhībhāvena.
   298. Atha kho pāveyyakā mallā bhagavato adhivāsanaṃ viditvā uṭṭhāyāsanā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā yena sandhāgāraṃ tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā sabbasanthariṃ sandhāgāraṃ santharitvā bhagavato āsanāni paññāpetvā udakamaṇikaṃ patiṭṭhapetvā telapadīpaṃ āropetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhaṃsu. Ekamantaṃ ṭhitā kho te pāveyyakā mallā bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ– “sabbasantharisanthataṃ, bhante, sandhāgāraṃ, bhagavato āsanāni paññattāni, udakamaṇiko patiṭṭhāpito, telapadīpo āropito. Yassadāni, bhante, bhagavā kālaṃ maññatī”ti.
   299. Atha kho bhagavā nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya saddhiṃ bhikkhusaṅghena yena sandhāgāraṃ tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā pāde pakkhāletvā sandhāgāraṃ pavisitvā majjhimaṃ thambhaṃ nissāya puratthābhimukho nisīdi. Bhikkhusaṅghopi kho pāde pakkhāletvā sandhāgāraṃ pavisitvā pacchimaṃ bhittiṃ nissāya puratthābhimukho nisīdi bhagavantaṃyeva purakkhatvā. Pāveyyakāpi kho mallā pāde pakkhāletvā sandhāgāraṃ pavisitvā puratthimaṃ bhittiṃ nissāya pacchimābhimukhā nisīdiṃsu bhagavantaṃyeva purakkhatvā. Atha kho bhagavā pāveyyake malle bahudeva rattiṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandassetvā samādapetvā samuttejetvā sampahaṃsetvā uyyojesi– “abhikkantā kho, vāseṭṭhā, ratti. Yassadāni tumhe kālaṃ maññathā”ti. “Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho pāveyyakā mallā bhagavato paṭissutvā uṭṭhāyāsanā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā pakkamiṃsu.
   300. Atha kho bhagavā acirapakkantesu pāveyyakesu mallesu tuṇhībhūtaṃ tuṇhībhūtaṃ bhikkhusaṃghaṃ anuviloketvā āyasmantaṃ sāriputtaṃ āmantesi– “vigatathinamiddho kho, sāriputta, bhikkhusaṅgho. Paṭibhātu taṃ, sāriputta, bhikkhūnaṃ dhammīkathā. Piṭṭhi me āgilāyati. Tamahaṃ āyamissāmī”ti. “Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho āyasmā sāriputto bhagavato paccassosi. Atha kho bhagavā catugguṇaṃ saṅghāṭiṃ paññapetvā dakkhiṇena passena sīhaseyyaṃ kappesi pāde pādaṃ accādhāya, sato sampajāno uṭṭhānasaññaṃ manasi karitvā.
Bhinnanigaṇṭhavatthu
   301. Tena kho pana samayena nigaṇṭho nāṭaputto pāvāyaṃ adhunākālaṅkato hoti. Tassa kālaṅkiriyāya bhinnā nigaṇṭhā dvedhikajātā bhaṇḍanajātā kalahajātā vivādāpannā aññamaññaṃ mukhasattīhi vitudantā viharanti – “na tvaṃ imaṃ dhammavinayaṃ ājānāsi, ahaṃ imaṃ dhammavinayaṃ ājānāmi, kiṃ tvaṃ imaṃ dhammavinayaṃ ājānissasi! Micchāpaṭipanno tvamasi, ahamasmi sammāpaṭipanno. Sahitaṃ me, asahitaṃ te. Purevacanīyaṃ pacchā avaca, pacchāvacanīyaṃ pure avaca. Adhiciṇṇaṃ te viparāvattaṃ, āropito te vādo, niggahito tvamasi, cara vādappamokkhāya, nibbeṭhehi vā sace pahosī”ti. Vadhoyeva kho maññe nigaṇṭhesu nāṭaputtiyesu vattati. Yepi nigaṇṭhassa nāṭaputtassa sāvakā gihī odātavasanā tepi nigaṇṭhesu nāṭaputtiyesu nibbinnarūpā virattarūpā paṭivānarūpā, yathā taṃ durakkhāte dhammavinaye duppavedite aniyyānike anupasamasaṃvattanike asammāsambuddhappavedite bhinnathūpe appaṭisaraṇe.
   302. Atha kho āyasmā sāriputto bhikkhū āmantesi – “nigaṇṭho, āvuso, nāṭaputto pāvāyaṃ adhunākālaṅkato, tassa kālaṅkiriyāya bhinnā nigaṇṭhā dvedhikajātā …pe… bhinnathūpe appaṭisaraṇe”. “Evañhetaṃ, āvuso, hoti durakkhāte dhammavinaye duppavedite aniyyānike anupasamasaṃvattanike asammāsambuddhappavedite. Ayaṃ kho panāvuso amhākaṃ bhagavatā dhammo svākkhāto suppavedito niyyāniko upasamasaṃvattaniko sammāsambuddhappavedito. Tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ, na vivaditabbaṃ, yathayidaṃ brahmacariyaṃ addhaniyaṃ assa ciraṭṭhitikaṃ, tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ.
   “Katamo cāvuso, amhākaṃ bhagavatā dhammo svākkhāto suppavedito niyyāniko upasamasaṃvattaniko sammāsambuddhappavedito; yattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ, na vivaditabbaṃ, yathayidaṃ brahmacariyaṃ addhaniyaṃ assa ciraṭṭhitikaṃ, tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ?

   303. “Atthi kho, āvuso, tena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena eko dhammo sammadakkhāto. Tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ, na vivaditabbaṃ, yathayidaṃ brahmacariyaṃ addhaniyaṃ assa ciraṭṭhitikaṃ tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ. Katamo eko dhammo? Sabbe sattā āhāraṭṭhitikā. Sabbe sattā saṅkhāraṭṭhitikā. Ayaṃ kho, āvuso, tena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena eko dhammo sammadakkhāto. Tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ, na vivaditabbaṃ yathayidaṃ brahmacariyaṃ addhaniyaṃ assa ciraṭṭhitikaṃ, tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ.

   “Tisso sukhūpapattiyo – santāvuso sattā uppādetvā uppādetvā sukhaṃ viharanti, seyyathāpi devā brahmakāyikā. Ayaṃ paṭhamā sukhūpapatti. Santāvuso, sattā sukhena abhisannā parisannā paripūrā paripphuṭā. Te kadāci karahaci udānaṃ udānenti– ‘aho sukhaṃ, aho sukhan’ti seyyathāpi devā ābhassarā. Ayaṃ dutiyā sukhūpapatti. Santāvuso, sattā sukhena abhisannā parisannā paripūrā paripphuṭā. Te santaṃyeva tusitā sukhaṃ paṭisaṃvedenti, seyyathāpi devā subhakiṇhā. Ayaṃ tatiyā sukhūpapatti

   “Tīṇi ādhipateyyāni– attādhipateyyaṃ, lokādhipateyyaṃ, dhammādhipateyyaṃ.
   “Tīṇi kathāvatthūni– atītaṃ vā addhānaṃ ārabbha kathaṃ katheyya– ‘evaṃ ahosi atītamaddhānan’ti; anāgataṃ vā addhānaṃ ārabbha kathaṃ katheyya– ‘evaṃ bhavissati anāgatamaddhānan’ti; etarahi vā paccuppannaṃ addhānaṃ ārabbha kathaṃ katheyya– ‘evaṃ hoti etarahi paccuppannaṃ addhānan’ti.
   “Tisso vijjā pubbenivāsānussatiñāṇaṃ vijjā, sattānaṃ cutūpapāteñāṇaṃ vijjā, āsavānaṃ khayeñāṇaṃ vijjā.
   “Tayo vihārā– dibbo vihāro, brahmā vihāro, ariyo vihāro.
   “Tīṇi pāṭihāriyāni– iddhipāṭihāriyaṃ, ādesanāpāṭihāriyaṃ, anusāsanīpāṭihāriyaṃ.

   306. “Atthi kho, āvuso, tena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena cattāro dhammā sammadakkhātā. Tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ, na vivaditabbaṃ …pe… atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ. Katame cattāro?
   “Cattāro satipaṭṭhānā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu kāye kāyānupassī viharati ātāpī sampajāno satimā, vineyya loke abhijjhādomanassaṃ. Vedanāsu vedanānupassī …pe… citte cittānupassī …pe… dhammesu dhammānupassī viharati ātāpī sampajāno satimā vineyya loke abhijjhādomanassaṃ.
   “Cattāro sammappadhānā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu anuppannānaṃ pāpakānaṃ akusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ anuppādāya chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati. Uppannānaṃ pāpakānaṃ akusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ pahānāya chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati. Anuppannānaṃ kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ uppādāya chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati. Uppannānaṃ kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ ṭhitiyā asammosāya bhiyyobhāvāya vepullāya bhāvanāya pāripūriyā chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati.
   “Cattāro iddhipādā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu chandasamādhipadhānasaṅkhāra-samannāgataṃ iddhipādaṃ bhāveti. Cittasamādhipadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṃ iddhipādaṃ bhāveti. Vīriyasamādhipadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṃ iddhipādaṃ bhāveti. Vīmaṃsāsamādhipadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṃ iddhipādaṃ bhāveti.
   “Cattāri jhānāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ savicāraṃ vivekajaṃ pītisukhaṃ paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā ajjhattaṃ sampasādanaṃ cetaso ekodibhāvaṃ avitakkaṃ avicāraṃ samādhijaṃ pītisukhaṃ dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Pītiyā ca virāgā upekkhako ca viharati sato ca sampajāno, sukhañca kāyena paṭisaṃvedeti, yaṃ taṃ ariyā ācikkhanti– ‘upekkhako satimā sukhavihārī’ti tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sukhassa ca pahānā dukkhassa ca pahānā, pubbeva somanassadomanassānaṃ atthaṅgamā, adukkhamasukhaṃ upekkhāsatipārisuddhiṃ catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati.
   307. “Catasso samādhibhāvanā. Atthāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārāya saṃvattati. Atthāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā ñāṇadassanapaṭilābhāya saṃvattati. Atthāvuso samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā satisampajaññāya saṃvattati. Atthāvuso samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā āsavānaṃ khayāya saṃvattati.
   “Katamā cāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārāya saṃvattati? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ …pe… catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Ayaṃ, āvuso samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārāya saṃvattati.
   “Katamā cāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā ñāṇadassanapaṭilābhāya saṃvattati? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu ālokasaññaṃ manasi karoti, divāsaññaṃ adhiṭṭhāti yathā divā tathā rattiṃ, yathā rattiṃ tathā divā. Iti vivaṭena cetasā apariyonaddhena sappabhāsaṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Ayaṃ, āvuso samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā ñāṇadassanapaṭilābhāya saṃvattati.
   “Katamā cāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā satisampajaññāya saṃvattati? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno viditā vedanā uppajjanti, viditā upaṭṭhahanti, viditā abbhatthaṃ gacchanti. Viditā saññā uppajjanti, viditā upaṭṭhahanti, viditā abbhatthaṃ gacchanti. Viditā vitakkā uppajjanti, viditā upaṭṭhahanti, viditā abbhatthaṃ gacchanti. Ayaṃ, āvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā satisampajaññāya saṃvattati.
   “Katamā cāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā āsavānaṃ khayāya saṃvattati? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu pañcasu upādānakkhandhesu udayabbayānupassī viharati. Iti rūpaṃ, iti rūpassa samudayo, iti rūpassa atthaṅgamo. Iti vedanā …pe… iti saññā… iti saṅkhārā… iti viññāṇaṃ, iti viññāṇassa samudayo, iti viññāṇassa atthaṅgamo. Ayaṃ, āvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā āsavānaṃ khayāya saṃvattati.
   308. “Catasso appamaññā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu mettāsahagatena cetasā ekaṃ disaṃ pharitvā viharati. Tathā dutiyaṃ. Tathā tatiyaṃ. Tathā catutthaṃ. Iti uddhamadho tiriyaṃ sabbadhi sabbattatāya sabbāvantaṃ lokaṃ mettāsahagatena cetasā vipulena mahaggatena appamāṇena averena abyāpajjena pharitvā viharati. Karuṇāsahagatena cetasā …pe… muditāsahagatena cetasā …pe… upekkhāsahagatena cetasā ekaṃ disaṃ pharitvā viharati. Tathā dutiyaṃ. Tathā tatiyaṃ. Tathā catutthaṃ.    “Cattāro āruppā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu sabbaso rūpasaññānaṃ samatikkamā paṭighasaññānaṃ atthaṅgamā nānattasaññānaṃ amanasikārā ‘ananto ākāso’ti ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sabbaso ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘anantaṃ viññāṇan’ti viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sabbaso viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘natthi kiñcī’ti ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sabbaso ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ samatikkamma nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati.
   “Cattāri apassenāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu saṅkhāyekaṃ paṭisevati, saṅkhāyekaṃ adhivāseti, saṅkhāyekaṃ parivajjeti, saṅkhāyekaṃ vinodeti.
   309. “Cattāro ariyavaṃsā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu santuṭṭho hoti itarītarena cīvarena, itarītaracīvarasantuṭṭhiyā ca vaṇṇavādī, na ca cīvarahetu anesanaṃ appatirūpaṃ āpajjati; aladdhā ca cīvaraṃ na paritassati, laddhā ca cīvaraṃ agadhito amucchito anajjhāpanno ādīnavadassāvī nissaraṇapañño paribhuñjati; tāya ca pana itarītaracīvarasantuṭṭhiyā nevattānukkaṃseti na paraṃ vambheti. Yo hi tattha dakkho analaso sampajāno paṭissato, ayaṃ vuccatāvuso ‘bhikkhu porāṇe aggaññe ariyavaṃse ṭhito’.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu santuṭṭho hoti itarītarena piṇḍapātena, itarītarapiṇḍapātasantuṭṭhiyā ca vaṇṇavādī, na ca piṇḍapātahetu anesanaṃ appatirūpaṃ āpajjati; aladdhā ca piṇḍapātaṃ na paritassati, laddhā ca piṇḍapātaṃ agadhito amucchito anajjhāpanno ādīnavadassāvī nissaraṇapañño paribhuñjati; tāya ca pana itarītarapiṇḍapātasantuṭṭhiyā nevattānukkaṃseti na paraṃ vambheti. Yo hi tattha dakkho analaso sampajāno paṭissato ayaṃ vuccatāvuso– ‘bhikkhu porāṇe aggaññe ariyavaṃse ṭhito’.
   310. “Cattāri padhānāni. Saṃvarapadhānaṃ pahānapadhānaṃ bhāvanāpadhānaṃ anurakkhaṇāpadhānaṃ. Katamañcāvuso, saṃvarapadhānaṃ? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu cakkhunā rūpaṃ disvā na nimittaggāhī hoti nānubyañjanaggāhī. Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ cakkhundriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhādomanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ, tassa saṃvarāya paṭipajjati, rakkhati cakkhundriyaṃ, cakkhundriye saṃvaraṃ āpajjati. Sotena saddaṃ sutvā… ghānena gandhaṃ ghāyitvā… jivhāya rasaṃ sāyitvā… kāyena phoṭṭhabbaṃ phusitvā… manasā dhammaṃ viññāya na nimittaggāhī hoti nānubyañjanaggāhī. Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ manindriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhādomanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ, tassa saṃvarāya paṭipajjati, rakkhati manindriyaṃ, manindriye saṃvaraṃ āpajjati. Idaṃ vuccatāvuso, saṃvarapadhānaṃ.
   “Katamañcāvuso, pahānapadhānaṃ? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu uppannaṃ kāmavitakkaṃ nādhivāseti pajahati vinodeti byantiṃ karoti anabhāvaṃ gameti. Uppannaṃ byāpādavitakkaṃ …pe… uppannaṃ vihiṃsāvitakkaṃ… uppannuppanne pāpake akusale dhamme nādhivāseti pajahati vinodeti byantiṃ karoti anabhāvaṃ gameti. Idaṃ vuccatāvuso, pahānapadhānaṃ.
   “Katamañcāvuso bhāvanāpadhānaṃ? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu satisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti vivekanissitaṃ virāganissitaṃ nirodhanissitaṃ vossaggapariṇāmiṃ. Dhammavicayasambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… vīriyasambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… pītisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… passaddhisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… samādhisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… upekkhāsambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti vivekanissitaṃ virāganissitaṃ nirodhanissitaṃ vossaggapariṇāmiṃ. Idaṃ vuccatāvuso, bhāvanāpadhānaṃ.
   “Katamañcāvuso, anurakkhaṇāpadhānaṃ? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu uppannaṃ bhadrakaṃ samādhinimittaṃ anurakkhati– aṭṭhikasaññaṃ, puḷuvakasaññaṃ , vinīlakasaññaṃ, vicchiddakasaññaṃ, uddhumātakasaññaṃ. Idaṃ vuccatāvuso, anurakkhaṇāpadhānaṃ.
   “Cattāri ñāṇāni– dhamme ñāṇaṃ, anvaye ñāṇaṃ, pariye ñāṇaṃ, sammutiyā ñāṇaṃ.
   “Aparānipi cattāri ñāṇāni– dukkhe ñāṇaṃ, dukkhasamudaye ñāṇaṃ, dukkhanirodhe ñāṇaṃ, dukkhanirodhagāminiyā paṭipadāya ñāṇaṃ.
   311. “Cattāri sotāpattiyaṅgāni– sappurisasaṃsevo, saddhammassavanaṃ, yonisomanasikāro, dhammānudhammappaṭipatti.
   “Cattāri sotāpannassa aṅgāni. Idhāvuso, ariyasāvako buddhe aveccappasādena samannāgato hoti– ‘itipi so bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho vijjācaraṇasampanno sugato lokavidū anuttaro purisadammasārathi satthā devamanussānaṃ buddho, bhagavā’ti. Dhamme aveccappasādena samannāgato hoti– ‘svākkhāto bhagavatā dhammo sandiṭṭhiko akāliko ehipassiko opaneyyiko paccattaṃ veditabbo viññūhī’ti. Saṅghe aveccappasādena samannāgato hoti– ‘suppaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho ujuppaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho ñāyappaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho sāmīcippaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho yadidaṃ cattāri purisayugāni aṭṭha purisapuggalā, esa bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho āhuneyyo pāhuneyyo dakkhiṇeyyo añjalikaraṇīyo anuttaraṃ puññakkhettaṃ lokassā’ti. Ariyakantehi sīlehi samannāgato hoti akhaṇḍehi acchiddehi asabalehi akammāsehi bhujissehi viññuppasatthehi aparāmaṭṭhehi samādhisaṃvattanikehi.
   “Cattāri sāmaññaphalāni– sotāpattiphalaṃ, sakadāgāmiphalaṃ, anāgāmiphalaṃ, arahattaphalaṃ.
   “Catasso dhātuyo– pathavīdhātu, āpodhātu, tejodhātu, vāyodhātu.
   “Cattāro āhārā– kabaḷīkāro āhāro oḷāriko vā sukhumo vā, phasso dutiyo, manosañcetanā tatiyā, viññāṇaṃ catutthaṃ.
   “Catasso viññāṇaṭṭhitiyo. Rūpūpāyaṃ vā, āvuso, viññāṇaṃ tiṭṭhamānaṃ tiṭṭhati rūpārammaṇaṃ rūpappatiṭṭhaṃ nandūpasecanaṃ vuddhiṃ virūḷhiṃ vepullaṃ āpajjati; vedanūpāyaṃ vā āvuso …pe… saññūpāyaṃ vā, āvuso …pe… saṅkhārūpāyaṃ vā, āvuso, viññāṇaṃ tiṭṭhamānaṃ tiṭṭhati saṅkhārārammaṇaṃ saṅkhārappatiṭṭhaṃ nandūpasecanaṃ vuddhiṃ virūḷhiṃ vepullaṃ āpajjati.
   “Cattāri agatigamanāni– chandāgatiṃ gacchati, dosāgati gacchati, mohāgatiṃ gacchati, bhayāgatiṃ gacchati.
   “Cattāro taṇhuppādā– cīvarahetu vā, āvuso, bhikkhuno taṇhā uppajjamānā uppajjati; piṇḍapātahetu vā, āvuso, bhikkhuno taṇhā uppajjamānā uppajjati; senāsanahetu vā, āvuso, bhikkhuno taṇhā uppajjamānā uppajjati; itibhavābhavahetu vā, āvuso, bhikkhuno taṇhā uppajjamānā uppajjati.
   “Catasso paṭipadā– dukkhā paṭipadā dandhābhiññā, dukkhā paṭipadā khippābhiññā, sukhā paṭipadā dandhābhiññā, sukhā paṭipadā khippābhiññā.
   “Aparāpi catasso paṭipadā– akkhamā paṭipadā, khamā paṭipadā, damā paṭipadā, samā paṭipadā.
   “Cattāri dhammapadāni– anabhijjhā dhammapadaṃ, abyāpādo dhammapadaṃ, sammāsati dhammapadaṃ, sammāsamādhi dhammapadaṃ.
   “Cattāri dhammasamādānāni– atthāvuso, dhammasamādānaṃ paccuppannadukkhañceva āyatiñca dukkhavipākaṃ. Atthāvuso, dhammasamādānaṃ paccuppannadukkhaṃ āyatiṃ sukhavipākaṃ. Atthāvuso, dhammasamādānaṃ paccuppannasukhaṃ āyatiṃ dukkhavipākaṃ. Atthāvuso, dhammasamādānaṃ paccuppannasukhañceva āyatiñca sukhavipākaṃ.
   “Cattāro dhammakkhandhā– sīlakkhandho, samādhikkhandho, paññākkhandho, vimuttikkhandho.
   “Cattāri balāni– vīriyabalaṃ, satibalaṃ, samādhibalaṃ, paññābalaṃ.
   “Cattāri adhiṭṭhānāni– paññādhiṭṭhānaṃ, saccādhiṭṭhānaṃ, cāgādhiṭṭhānaṃ, upasamādhiṭṭhānaṃ.
   312. “Cattāri pañhabyākaraṇāni– ekaṃsabyākaraṇīyo pañho, paṭipucchābyākaraṇīyo pañho, vibhajjabyākaraṇīyo pañho, ṭhapanīyo pañho.
   “Cattāri kammāni– atthāvuso, kammaṃ kaṇhaṃ kaṇhavipākaṃ; atthāvuso, kammaṃ sukkaṃ sukkavipākaṃ; atthāvuso, kammaṃ kaṇhasukkaṃ kaṇhasukkavipākaṃ; atthāvuso, kammaṃ akaṇha-asukkaṃ akaṇha-asukkavipākaṃ kammakkhayāya saṃvattati.
   “Cattāro sacchikaraṇīyā dhammā– pubbenivāso satiyā sacchikaraṇīyo; sattānaṃ cutūpapāto cakkhunā sacchikaraṇīyo; aṭṭha vimokkhā kāyena sacchikaraṇīyā; āsavānaṃ khayo paññāya sacchikaraṇīyo.
   “Cattāro oghā– kāmogho, bhavogho, diṭṭhogho, avijjogho.
   “Cattāro yogā– kāmayogo, bhavayogo, diṭṭhiyogo, avijjāyogo.
   “Cattāro visaññogā– kāmayogavisaññogo, bhavayogavisaññogo, diṭṭhiyogavisaññogo, avijjāyogavisaññogo.
   “Cattāro ganthā– abhijjhā kāyagantho, byāpādo kāyagantho, sīlabbataparāmāso kāyagantho, idaṃsaccābhiniveso kāyagantho.
   “Cattāri upādānāni– kāmupādānaṃ, diṭṭhupādānaṃ, sīlabbatupādānaṃ, attavādupādānaṃ.
   “Catasso yoniyo– aṇḍajayoni, jalābujayoni, saṃsedajayoni, opapātikayoni.
   “Catasso gabbhāvakkantiyo. Idhāvuso, ekacco asampajāno mātukucchiṃ okkamati, asampajāno mātukucchismiṃ ṭhāti, asampajāno mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, ayaṃ paṭhamā gabbhāvakkanti. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, idhekacco sampajāno mātukucchiṃ okkamati, asampajāno mātukucchismiṃ ṭhāti, asampajāno mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, ayaṃ dutiyā gabbhāvakkanti. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, idhekacco sampajāno mātukucchiṃ okkamati, sampajāno mātukucchismiṃ ṭhāti, asampajāno mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, ayaṃ tatiyā gabbhāvakkanti. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, idhekacco sampajāno mātukucchiṃ okkamati, sampajāno mātukucchismiṃ ṭhāti, sampajāno mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, ayaṃ catutthā gabbhāvakkanti.
   “Cattāro attabhāvapaṭilābhā. Atthāvuso, attabhāvapaṭilābho, yasmiṃ attabhāvapaṭilābhe attasañcetanāyeva kamati, no parasañcetanā. Atthāvuso, attabhāvapaṭilābho, yasmiṃ attabhāvapaṭilābhe parasañcetanāyeva kamati, no attasañcetanā. Atthāvuso, attabhāvapaṭilābho, yasmiṃ attabhāvapaṭilābhe attasañcetanā ceva kamati parasañcetanā ca. Atthāvuso, attabhāvapaṭilābho, yasmiṃ attabhāvapaṭilābhe neva attasañcetanā kamati, no parasañcetanā.
   313. “Catasso dakkhiṇāvisuddhiyo. Atthāvuso, dakkhiṇā dāyakato visujjhati no paṭiggāhakato. Atthāvuso, dakkhiṇā paṭiggāhakato visujjhati no dāyakato. Atthāvuso, dakkhiṇā neva dāyakato visujjhati no paṭiggāhakato. Atthāvuso, dakkhiṇā dāyakato ceva visujjhati paṭiggāhakato ca.
   “Cattāri saṅgahavatthūni– dānaṃ, peyyavajjaṃ, atthacariyā, samānattatā.
   “Cattāro anariyavohārā– musāvādo, pisuṇāvācā, pharusāvācā, samphappalāpo.

   314. “Cattāro puggalā. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo attantapo hoti attaparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo parantapo hoti paraparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo attantapo ca hoti attaparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto, parantapo ca paraparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo neva attantapo hoti na attaparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto na parantapo na paraparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto. So anattantapo aparantapo diṭṭheva dhamme nicchāto nibbuto sītībhūto sukhappaṭisaṃvedī brahmabhūtena attanā viharati.
   “Aparepi cattāro puggalā. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo attahitāya paṭipanno hoti no parahitāya. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo parahitāya paṭipanno hoti no attahitāya. Idhāvuso ekacco puggalo neva attahitāya paṭipanno hoti no parahitāya. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo attahitāya ceva paṭipanno hoti parahitāya ca.
   “Aparepi cattāro puggalā– tamo tamaparāyano, tamo jotiparāyano, joti tamaparāyano, joti jotiparāyano.
   “Aparepi cattāro puggalā– samaṇamacalo, samaṇapadumo, samaṇapuṇḍarīko, samaṇesu samaṇasukhumālo.

   “Pañca kāmaguṇā. Cakkhuviññeyyā rūpā iṭṭhā kantā manāpā piyarūpā kāmūpasañhitā rajanīyā sotaviññeyyā saddā… ghānaviññeyyā gandhā… jivhāviññeyyā rasā… kāyaviññeyyā phoṭṭhabbā iṭṭhā kantā manāpā piyarūpā kāmūpasañhitā rajanīyā.
   “Pañca gatiyo– nirayo, tiracchānayoni, pettivisayo, manussā, devā.
   “Pañca macchariyāni– āvāsamacchariyaṃ, kulamacchariyaṃ, lābhamacchariyaṃ, vaṇṇamacchariyaṃ, dhammamacchariyaṃ.

   316. “Pañca abhabbaṭṭhānāni. Abhabbo, āvuso, khīṇāsavo bhikkhu sañcicca pāṇaṃ jīvitā voropetuṃ. Abhabbo khīṇāsavo bhikkhu adinnaṃ theyyasaṅkhātaṃ ādiyituṃ. Abhabbo khīṇāsavo bhikkhu methunaṃ dhammaṃ paṭisevituṃ. Abhabbo khīṇāsavo bhikkhu sampajānamusā bhāsituṃ. Abhabbo khīṇāsavo bhikkhu sannidhikārakaṃ kāme paribhuñjituṃ, seyyathāpi pubbe āgārikabhūto.
   “Pañca byasanāni– ñātibyasanaṃ, bhogabyasanaṃ, rogabyasanaṃ, sīlabyasanaṃ, diṭṭhibyasanaṃ. Nāvuso, sattā ñātibyasanahetu vā bhogabyasanahetu vā rogabyasanahetu vā kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā apāyaṃ duggatiṃ vinipātaṃ nirayaṃ upapajjanti. Sīlabyasanahetu vā, āvuso, sattā diṭṭhibyasanahetu vā kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā apāyaṃ duggatiṃ vinipātaṃ nirayaṃ upapajjanti.
   “Pañca sampadā– ñātisampadā, bhogasampadā, ārogyasampadā, sīlasampadā, diṭṭhisampadā. Nāvuso, sattā ñātisampadāhetu vā bhogasampadāhetu vā ārogyasampadāhetu vā kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sugatiṃ saggaṃ lokaṃ upapajjanti. Sīlasampadāhetu vā, āvuso, sattā diṭṭhisampadāhetu vā kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sugatiṃ saggaṃ lokaṃ upapajjanti.
   “Pañca ādīnavā dussīlassa sīlavipattiyā. Idhāvuso dussīlo sīlavipanno pamādādhikaraṇaṃ mahatiṃ bhogajāniṃ nigacchati, ayaṃ paṭhamo ādīnavo dussīlassa sīlavipattiyā. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, dussīlassa sīlavipannassa pāpako kittisaddo abbhuggacchati, ayaṃ dutiyo ādīnavo dussīlassa sīlavipattiyā. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, dussīlo sīlavipanno yaññadeva parisaṃ upasaṅkamati yadi khattiyaparisaṃ yadi brāhmaṇaparisaṃ yadi gahapatiparisaṃ yadi samaṇaparisaṃ, avisārado upasaṅkamati maṅkubhūto, ayaṃ tatiyo ādīnavo dussīlassa sīlavipattiyā. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, dussīlo sīlavipanno sammūḷho kālaṃ karoti, ayaṃ catuttho ādīnavo dussīlassa sīlavipattiyā. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, dussīlo sīlavipanno kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā apāyaṃ duggatiṃ vinipātaṃ nirayaṃ upapajjati, ayaṃ pañcamo ādīnavo dussīlassa sīlavipattiyā.
   “Pañca ānisaṃsā sīlavato sīlasampadāya. Idhāvuso, sīlavā sīlasampanno appamādādhikaraṇaṃ mahantaṃ bhogakkhandhaṃ adhigacchati, ayaṃ paṭhamo ānisaṃso sīlavato sīlasampadāya. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, sīlavato sīlasampannassa kalyāṇo kittisaddo abbhuggacchati, ayaṃ dutiyo ānisaṃso sīlavato sīlasampadāya. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, sīlavā sīlasampanno yaññadeva parisaṃ upasaṅkamati yadi khattiyaparisaṃ yadi brāhmaṇaparisaṃ yadi gahapatiparisaṃ yadi samaṇaparisaṃ, visārado upasaṅkamati amaṅkubhūto, ayaṃ tatiyo ānisaṃso sīlavato sīlasampadāya. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, sīlavā sīlasampanno asammūḷho kālaṃ karoti, ayaṃ catuttho ānisaṃso sīlavato sīlasampadāya. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, sīlavā sīlasampanno kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sugatiṃ saggaṃ lokaṃ upapajjati, ayaṃ pañcamo ānisaṃso sīlavato sīlasampadāya.
   “Codakena āvuso, bhikkhunā paraṃ codetukāmena pañca dhamme ajjhattaṃ upaṭṭhapetvā paro codetabbo. Kālena vakkhāmi no akālena, bhūtena vakkhāmi no abhūtena, saṇhena vakkhāmi no pharusena, atthasaṃhitena vakkhāmi no anatthasaṃhitena, mettacittena vakkhāmi no dosantarenāti. Codakena, āvuso, bhikkhunā paraṃ codetukāmena ime pañca dhamme ajjhattaṃ upaṭṭhapetvā paro codetabbo.
   317. “Pañca padhāniyaṅgāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu saddho hoti, saddahati tathāgatassa bodhiṃ– ‘itipi so bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho vijjācaraṇasampanno sugato, lokavidū anuttaro purisadammasārathi satthā devamanussānaṃ buddho bhagavā’ti. Appābādho hoti appātaṅko, samavepākiniyā gahaṇiyā samannāgato nātisītāya nāccuṇhāya majjhimāya padhānakkhamāya. Asaṭho hoti amāyāvī, yathābhūtaṃ attānaṃ āvikattā satthari vā viññūsu vā sabrahmacārīsu. Āraddhavīriyo viharati akusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ pahānāya kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ upasampadāya thāmavā daḷhaparakkamo anikkhittadhuro kusalesu dhammesu. Paññavā hoti udayatthagāminiyā paññāya samannāgato ariyāya nibbedhikāya sammādukkhakkhayagāminiyā.
   318. “Pañca suddhāvāsā– avihā, atappā, sudassā, sudassī, akaniṭṭhā.
   “Pañca anāgāmino– antarāparinibbāyī, upahaccaparinibbāyī, asaṅkhāraparinibbāyī, sasaṅkhāraparinibbāyī, uddhaṃsoto-akaniṭṭhagāmī.
   319. “Pañca cetokhilā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu satthari kaṅkhati vicikicchati nādhimuccati na sampasīdati. Yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu satthari kaṅkhati vicikicchati nādhimuccati na sampasīdati, tassa cittaṃ na namati ātappāya anuyogāya sātaccāya padhānāya, yassa cittaṃ na namati ātappāya anuyogāya sātaccāya padhānāya, ayaṃ paṭhamo cetokhilo. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu dhamme kaṅkhati vicikicchati …pe… saṅghe kaṅkhati vicikicchati… sikkhāya kaṅkhati vicikicchati… sabrahmacārīsu kupito hoti anattamano āhatacitto khilajāto. Yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu sabrahmacārīsu kupito hoti anattamano āhatacitto khilajāto, tassa cittaṃ na namati ātappāya anuyogāya sātaccāya padhānāya, yassa cittaṃ na namati ātappāya anuyogāya sātaccāya padhānāya, ayaṃ pañcamo cetokhilo.
   320. “Pañca cetasovinibandhā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu kāmesu avītarāgo hoti avigatacchando avigatapemo avigatapipāso avigatapariḷāho avigatataṇho. Yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu kāmesu avītarāgo hoti avigatacchando avigatapemo avigatapipāso avigatapariḷāho avigatataṇho, tassa cittaṃ na namati ātappāya anuyogāya sātaccāya padhānāya. Yassa cittaṃ na namati ātappāya anuyogāya sātaccāya padhānāya. Ayaṃ paṭhamo cetaso vinibandho. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu kāye avītarāgo hoti …pe… rūpe avītarāgo hoti …pe… puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu yāvadatthaṃ udarāvadehakaṃ bhuñjitvā seyyasukhaṃ passasukhaṃ middhasukhaṃ anuyutto viharati …pe… puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu aññataraṃ devanikāyaṃ paṇidhāya brahmacariyaṃ carati– ‘imināhaṃ sīlena vā vatena vā tapena vā brahmacariyena vā devo vā bhavissāmi devaññataro vā’ti. Yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu aññataraṃ devanikāyaṃ paṇidhāya brahmacariyaṃ carati– ‘imināhaṃ sīlena vā vatena vā tapena vā brahmacariyena vā devo vā bhavissāmi devaññataro vā’ti, tassa cittaṃ na namati ātappāya anuyogāya sātaccāya padhānāya. Yassa cittaṃ na namati ātappāya anuyogāya sātaccāya padhānāya. Ayaṃ pañcamo cetaso vinibandho.
   “Pañcindriyāni– cakkhundriyaṃ, sotindriyaṃ, ghānindriyaṃ, jivhindriyaṃ, kāyindriyaṃ.
   “Aparānipi pañcindriyāni– sukhindriyaṃ, dukkhindriyaṃ, somanassindriyaṃ, domanassindriyaṃ, upekkhindriyaṃ.
   “Aparānipi pañcindriyāni– saddhindriyaṃ, vīriyindriyaṃ, satindriyaṃ, samādhindriyaṃ, paññindriyaṃ.
   321. “Pañca nissaraṇiyā dhātuyo. Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno kāme manasikaroto kāmesu cittaṃ na pakkhandati na pasīdati na santiṭṭhati na vimuccati. Nekkhammaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto nekkhamme cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ kāmehi. Ye ca kāmapaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ kāmānaṃ nissaraṇaṃ.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno byāpādaṃ manasikaroto byāpāde cittaṃ na pakkhandati na pasīdati na santiṭṭhati na vimuccati. Abyāpādaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto abyāpāde cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ byāpādena. Ye ca byāpādapaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ byāpādassa nissaraṇaṃ.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno vihesaṃ manasikaroto vihesāya cittaṃ na pakkhandati na pasīdati na santiṭṭhati na vimuccati. Avihesaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto avihesāya cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ vihesāya. Ye ca vihesāpaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ vihesāya nissaraṇaṃ.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno rūpe manasikaroto rūpesu cittaṃ na pakkhandati na pasīdati na santiṭṭhati na vimuccati. Arūpaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto arūpe cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ rūpehi. Ye ca rūpapaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ rūpānaṃ nissaraṇaṃ.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno sakkāyaṃ manasikaroto sakkāye cittaṃ na pakkhandati na pasīdati na santiṭṭhati na vimuccati. Sakkāyanirodhaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto sakkāyanirodhe cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ sakkāyena. Ye ca sakkāyapaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ sakkāyassa nissaraṇaṃ.
   322. “Pañca vimuttāyatanāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno satthā dhammaṃ deseti aññataro vā garuṭṭhāniyo sabrahmacārī. Yathā yathā, āvuso, bhikkhuno satthā dhammaṃ deseti aññataro vā garuṭṭhāniyo sabrahmacārī Tathā tathā so tasmiṃ dhamme atthapaṭisaṃvedī ca hoti dhammapaṭisaṃvedī ca. Tassa atthapaṭisaṃvedino dhammapaṭisaṃvedino pāmojjaṃ jāyati, pamuditassa pīti jāyati, pītimanassa kāyo passambhati, passaddhakāyo sukhaṃ vedeti, sukhino cittaṃ samādhiyati. Idaṃ paṭhamaṃ vimuttāyatanaṃ.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno na heva kho satthā dhammaṃ deseti aññataro vā garuṭṭhāniyo sabrahmacārī, api ca kho yathāsutaṃ yathāpariyattaṃ dhammaṃ vitthārena paresaṃ deseti …pe… api ca kho yathāsutaṃ yathāpariyattaṃ dhammaṃ vitthārena sajjhāyaṃ karoti …pe… api ca kho yathāsutaṃ yathāpariyattaṃ dhammaṃ cetasā anuvitakketi anuvicāreti manasānupekkhati …pe… api ca khvassa aññataraṃ samādhinimittaṃ suggahitaṃ hoti sumanasikataṃ sūpadhāritaṃ suppaṭividdhaṃ paññāya. Yathā yathā, āvuso, bhikkhuno aññataraṃ samādhinimittaṃ suggahitaṃ hoti sumanasikataṃ sūpadhāritaṃ suppaṭividdhaṃ paññāya tathā tathā so tasmiṃ dhamme atthapaṭisaṃvedī ca hoti dhammapaṭisaṃvedī ca. Tassa atthapaṭisaṃvedino dhammapaṭisaṃvedino pāmojjaṃ jāyati, pamuditassa pīti jāyati, pītimanassa kāyo passambhati, passaddhakāyo sukhaṃ vedeti sukhino cittaṃ samādhiyati.    “Cha sāraṇīyā dhammā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno mettaṃ kāyakammaṃ paccupaṭṭhitaṃ hoti sabrahmacārīsu āvi ceva raho ca. Ayampi dhammo sāraṇīyo piyakaraṇo garukaraṇo saṅgahāya avivādāya sāmaggiyā ekībhāvāya saṃvattati.

   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu yāni tāni sīlāni akhaṇḍāni acchiddāni asabalāni akammāsāni bhujissāni viññuppasatthāni aparāmaṭṭhāni samādhisaṃvattanikāni, tathārūpesu sīlesu sīlasāmaññagato viharati sabrahmacārīhi āvi ceva raho ca. Ayampi dhammo sāraṇīyo …pe… ekībhāvāya saṃvattati.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu yāyaṃ diṭṭhi ariyā niyyānikā niyyāti takkarassa sammā dukkhakkhayāya, tathārūpāya diṭṭhiyā diṭṭhisāmaññagato viharati sabrahmacārīhi āvi ceva raho ca. Ayampi dhammo sāraṇīyo piyakaraṇo garukaraṇo saṅgahāya avivādāya sāmaggiyā ekībhāvāya saṃvattati.
   325. Cha vivādamūlāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu kodhano hoti upanāhī. Yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu kodhano hoti upanāhī, so sattharipi agāravo viharati appatisso, dhammepi agāravo viharati appatisso, saṅghepi agāravo viharati appatisso, sikkhāyapi na paripūrakārī hoti. Yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu satthari agāravo viharati appatisso, dhamme agāravo viharati appatisso, saṅghe agāravo viharati appatisso, sikkhāya na paripūrakārī, so saṅghe vivādaṃ janeti. Yo hoti vivādo bahujana-ahitāya bahujana-asukhāya anatthāya ahitāya dukkhāya devamanussānaṃ. Evarūpaṃ ce tumhe, āvuso, vivādamūlaṃ ajjhattaṃ vā bahiddhā vā samanupasseyyātha. Tatra tumhe, āvuso, tasseva pāpakassa vivādamūlassa pahānāya vāyameyyātha. Evarūpaṃ ce tumhe, āvuso, vivādamūlaṃ ajjhattaṃ vā bahiddhā vā na samanupasseyyātha. Tatra tumhe, āvuso, tasseva pāpakassa vivādamūlassa āyatiṃ anavassavāya paṭipajjeyyātha. Evametassa pāpakassa vivādamūlassa pahānaṃ hoti. Evametassa pāpakassa vivādamūlassa āyatiṃ anavassavo hoti.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu makkhī hoti paḷāsī …pe… issukī hoti maccharī …pe… saṭho hoti māyāvī… pāpiccho hoti micchādiṭṭhī… sandiṭṭhiparāmāsī hoti ādhānaggāhī duppaṭinissaggī …pe… yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu sandiṭṭhiparāmāsī hoti ādhānaggāhī duppaṭinissaggī, so sattharipi agāravo viharati appatisso, dhammepi agāravo viharati appatisso, saṅghepi agāravo viharati appatisso, sikkhāyapi na paripūrakārī hoti.    “Cha dhātuyo pathavīdhātu, āpodhātu, tejodhātu, vāyodhātu, ākāsadhātu, viññāṇadhātu.
   326. “Cha nissaraṇiyā dhātuyo. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu evaṃ vadeyya– ‘mettā hi kho me cetovimutti bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā, atha ca pana me byāpādo cittaṃ pariyādāya tiṭṭhatī’ti. So ‘mā hevaṃ’, tissa vacanīyo, ‘māyasmā evaṃ avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi, na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya. Aṭṭhānametaṃ, āvuso, anavakāso, yaṃ mettāya cetovimuttiyā bhāvitāya bahulīkatāya yānīkatāya vatthukatāya anuṭṭhitāya paricitāya susamāraddhāya. Atha ca panassa byāpādo cittaṃ pariyādāya ṭhassati, netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Nissaraṇaṃ hetaṃ, āvuso, byāpādassa, yadidaṃ mettā cetovimuttī’ti.

   “Idha panāvuso, bhikkhu evaṃ vadeyya– ‘upekkhā hi kho me cetovimutti bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā. Atha ca pana me rāgo cittaṃ pariyādāya tiṭṭhatī’ti. So ‘mā hevaṃ’ tissa vacanīyo ‘māyasmā evaṃ avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi, na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya. Aṭṭhānametaṃ, āvuso, anavakāso, yaṃ upekkhāya cetovimuttiyā bhāvitāya bahulīkatāya yānīkatāya vatthukatāya anuṭṭhitāya paricitāya susamāraddhāya, atha ca panassa rāgo cittaṃ pariyādāya ṭhassati netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Nissaraṇaṃ hetaṃ, āvuso, rāgassa, yadidaṃ upekkhā cetovimuttī’ti.
   “Idha panāvuso, bhikkhu evaṃ vadeyya– ‘animittā hi kho me cetovimutti bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā. Atha ca pana me nimittānusāri viññāṇaṃ hotī’ti. So ‘mā hevaṃ’ tissa vacanīyo ‘māyasmā evaṃ avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi, na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya. Aṭṭhānametaṃ, āvuso, anavakāso, yaṃ animittāya cetovimuttiyā bhāvitāya bahulīkatāya yānīkatāya vatthukatāya anuṭṭhitāya paricitāya susamāraddhāya, atha ca panassa nimittānusāri viññāṇaṃ bhavissati, netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Nissaraṇaṃ hetaṃ, āvuso, sabbanimittānaṃ, yadidaṃ animittā cetovimuttī’ti.
   “Idha panāvuso, bhikkhu evaṃ vadeyya– ‘asmīti kho me vigataṃ, ayamahamasmīti na samanupassāmi, atha ca pana me vicikicchākathaṅkathāsallaṃ cittaṃ pariyādāya tiṭṭhatī’ti. So ‘mā hevaṃ’ tissa vacanīyo ‘māyasmā evaṃ avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi, na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya. Aṭṭhānametaṃ, āvuso, anavakāso, yaṃ asmīti vigate ayamahamasmīti asamanupassato, atha ca panassa vicikicchākathaṅkathāsallaṃ cittaṃ pariyādāya ṭhassati, netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Nissaraṇaṃ hetaṃ, āvuso, vicikicchākathaṅkathāsallassa, yadidaṃ asmimānasamugghāto’ti.
   327. “Cha anuttariyāni– dassanānuttariyaṃ, savanānuttariyaṃ, lābhānuttariyaṃ, sikkhānuttariyaṃ, pāricariyānuttariyaṃ, anussatānuttariyaṃ.
   “Cha anussatiṭṭhānāni buddhānussati, dhammānussati, saṅghānussati, sīlānussati, cāgānussati, devatānussati.
   328. “Cha satatavihārā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu cakkhunā rūpaṃ disvā neva sumano hoti na dummano, upekkhako viharati sato sampajāno. Sotena saddaṃ sutvā …pe… manasā dhammaṃ viññāya neva sumano hoti na dummano, upekkhako viharati sato sampajāno.
   329. “Chaḷābhijātiyo. Idhāvuso, ekacco kaṇhābhijātiko samāno kaṇhaṃ dhammaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco kaṇhābhijātiko samāno sukkaṃ dhammaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco kaṇhābhijātiko samāno akaṇhaṃ asukkaṃ nibbānaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco sukkābhijātiko samāno sukkaṃ dhammaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco sukkābhijātiko samāno kaṇhaṃ dhammaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco sukkābhijātiko samāno akaṇhaṃ asukkaṃ nibbānaṃ abhijāyati.
   “Cha nibbedhabhāgiyā saññā – aniccasaññā anicce, dukkhasaññā dukkhe, anattasaññā, pahānasaññā, virāgasaññā, nirodhasaññā.
   “Ime kho, āvuso, tena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena cha dhammā sammadakkhātā; tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ …pe… atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ.

   “Satta ariyadhanāni– saddhādhanaṃ, sīladhanaṃ, hiridhanaṃ, ottappadhanaṃ, sutadhanaṃ, cāgadhanaṃ, paññādhanaṃ.
   “Satta bojjhaṅgā– satisambojjhaṅgo, dhammavicayasambojjhaṅgo vīriyasambojjhaṅgo, pītisambojjhaṅgo, passaddhisambojjhaṅgo, samādhisambojjhaṅgo, upekkhāsambojjhaṅgo.
   “Satta samādhiparikkhārā– sammādiṭṭhi, sammāsaṅkappo, sammāvācā, sammākammanto, sammā-ājīvo, sammāvāyāmo, sammāsati.
   “Satta asaddhammā– idhāvuso, bhikkhu assaddho hoti, ahiriko hoti, anottappī hoti, appassuto hoti, kusīto hoti, muṭṭhassati hoti, duppañño hoti.
   “Satta saddhammā– idhāvuso, bhikkhu saddho hoti, hirimā hoti, ottappī hoti, bahussuto hoti, āraddhavīriyo hoti, upaṭṭhitassati hoti, paññavā hoti.
   “Satta sappurisadhammā– idhāvuso, bhikkhu dhammaññū ca hoti atthaññū ca attaññū ca mattaññū ca kālaññū ca parisaññū ca puggalaññū ca.
   331. “Satta niddasavatthūni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu sikkhāsamādāne tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca sikkhāsamādāne avigatapemo. Dhammanisantiyā tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca dhammanisantiyā avigatapemo. Icchāvinaye tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca icchāvinaye avigatapemo. Paṭisallāne tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca paṭisallāne avigatapemo. Vīriyārambhe tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca vīriyārambhe avigatapemo. Satinepakke tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca satinepakke avigatapemo Diṭṭhipaṭivedhe tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca diṭṭhipaṭivedhe avigatapemo.
   “Satta saññā– aniccasaññā, anattasaññā, asubhasaññā, ādīnavasaññā, pahānasaññā, virāgasaññā, nirodhasaññā.
   “Satta balāni– saddhābalaṃ, vīriyabalaṃ, hiribalaṃ, ottappabalaṃ, satibalaṃ, samādhibalaṃ, paññābalaṃ.
   332. “Satta viññāṇaṭṭhitiyo. Santāvuso, sattā nānattakāyā nānattasaññino, seyyathāpi manussā ekacce ca devā ekacce ca vinipātikā. Ayaṃ paṭhamā viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
   “Santāvuso, sattā nānattakāyā ekattasaññino seyyathāpi devā brahmakāyikā paṭhamābhinibbattā. Ayaṃ dutiyā viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
   “Santāvuso, sattā ekattakāyā nānattasaññino seyyathāpi devā ābhassarā. Ayaṃ tatiyā viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
   “Santāvuso, sattā ekattakāyā ekattasaññino seyyathāpi devā subhakiṇhā. Ayaṃ catutthī viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
   “Santāvuso, sattā sabbaso rūpasaññānaṃ samatikkamā paṭighasaññānaṃ atthaṅgamā nānattasaññānaṃ amanasikārā ‘ananto ākāso’ti ākāsānañcāyatanūpagā. Ayaṃ pañcamī viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
   “Santāvuso, sattā sabbaso ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘anantaṃ viññāṇan’ti viññāṇañcāyatanūpagā. Ayaṃ chaṭṭhī viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
   “Santāvuso sattā sabbaso viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘natthi kiñcī’ti ākiñcaññāyatanūpagā. Ayaṃ sattamī viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
   “Satta puggalā dakkhiṇeyyā– ubhatobhāgavimutto paññāvimutto, kāyasakkhi, diṭṭhippatto, saddhāvimutto, dhammānusārī, saddhānusārī.
   “Satta anusayā– kāmarāgānusayo, paṭighānusayo, diṭṭhānusayo, vicikicchānusayo, mānānusayo, bhavarāgānusayo, avijjānusayo.
   “Satta saññojanāni– anunayasaññojanaṃ, paṭighasaññojanaṃ, diṭṭhisaññojanaṃ, vicikicchāsaññojanaṃ, mānasaññojanaṃ, bhavarāgasaññojanaṃ, avijjāsaññojanaṃ.
   “Satta adhikaraṇasamathā– uppannuppannānaṃ adhikaraṇānaṃ samathāya vūpasamāya sammukhāvinayo dātabbo, sativinayo dātabbo, amūḷhavinayo dātabbo, paṭiññāya kāretabbaṃ, yebhuyyasikā, tassapāpiyasikā, tiṇavatthārako.
   “Ime kho, āvuso, tena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena satta dhammā sammadakkhātā; tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ …pe… atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ.

   “Aṭṭha micchattā– micchādiṭṭhi, micchāsaṅkappo, micchāvācā, micchākammanto, micchā-ājīvo, micchāvāyāmo micchāsati, micchāsamādhi.
   “Aṭṭha sammattā– sammādiṭṭhi, sammāsaṅkappo, sammāvācā, sammākammanto, sammā-ājīvo, sammāvāyāmo, sammāsati, sammāsamādhi.
   “Aṭṭha puggalā dakkhiṇeyyā– sotāpanno, sotāpattiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno; sakadāgāmī, sakadāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno; anāgāmī, anāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno; arahā, arahattaphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno.
   334. “Aṭṭha kusītavatthūni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhunā kammaṃ kātabbaṃ hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘kammaṃ kho me kātabbaṃ bhavissati, kammaṃ kho pana me karontassa kāyo kilamissati, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya. Idaṃ paṭhamaṃ kusītavatthu.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhunā kammaṃ kataṃ hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho kammaṃ akāsiṃ, kammaṃ kho pana me karontassa kāyo kilanto, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati …pe… idaṃ dutiyaṃ kusītavatthu.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhunā maggo gantabbo hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘maggo kho me gantabbo bhavissati, maggaṃ kho pana me gacchantassa kāyo kilamissati, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ tatiyaṃ kusītavatthu.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhunā maggo gato hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho maggaṃ agamāsiṃ, maggaṃ kho pana me gacchantassa kāyo kilanto, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ catutthaṃ kusītavatthu.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā piṇḍāya caranto na labhati lūkhassa vā paṇītassa vā bhojanassa yāvadatthaṃ pāripūriṃ. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā piṇḍāya caranto nālatthaṃ lūkhassa vā paṇītassa vā bhojanassa yāvadatthaṃ pāripūriṃ, tassa me kāyo kilanto akammañño, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ pañcamaṃ kusītavatthu.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā piṇḍāya caranto labhati lūkhassa vā paṇītassa vā bhojanassa yāvadatthaṃ pāripūriṃ. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā piṇḍāya caranto alatthaṃ lūkhassa vā paṇītassa vā bhojanassa yāvadatthaṃ pāripūriṃ, tassa me kāyo garuko akammañño, māsācitaṃ maññe handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ chaṭṭhaṃ kusītavatthu.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno uppanno hoti appamattako ābādho. Tassa evaṃ hoti ‘uppanno kho me ayaṃ appamattako ābādho; atthi kappo nipajjituṃ, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ sattamaṃ kusītavatthu.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu gilānā vuṭṭhito hoti aciravuṭṭhito gelaññā. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho gilānā vuṭṭhito aciravuṭṭhito gelaññā, tassa me kāyo dubbalo akammañño, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya. Idaṃ aṭṭhamaṃ kusītavatthu.
   335. “Aṭṭha ārambhavatthūni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhunā kammaṃ kātabbaṃ hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘kammaṃ kho me kātabbaṃ bhavissati, kammaṃ kho pana me karontena na sukaraṃ buddhānaṃ sāsanaṃ manasi kātuṃ, handāhaṃ vīriyaṃ ārabhāmi appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya, asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāyā’ti! So vīriyaṃ ārabhati appattassa pattiyā, anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya. Idaṃ paṭhamaṃ ārambhavatthu.

   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu gilānā vuṭṭhito hoti aciravuṭṭhito gelaññā. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho gilānā vuṭṭhito aciravuṭṭhito gelaññā, ṭhānaṃ kho panetaṃ vijjati yaṃ me ābādho paccudāvatteyya, handāhaṃ vīriyaṃ ārabhāmi appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāyā”ti! So vīriyaṃ ārabhati appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya. Idaṃ aṭṭhamaṃ ārambhavatthu.
   336. “Aṭṭha dānavatthūni. Āsajja dānaṃ deti, bhayā dānaṃ deti, ‘adāsi me’ti dānaṃ deti, ‘dassati me’ti dānaṃ deti, ‘sāhu dānan’ti dānaṃ deti, ‘ahaṃ pacāmi, ime na pacanti, nārahāmi pacanto apacantānaṃ dānaṃ na dātun’ti dānaṃ deti, ‘idaṃ me dānaṃ dadato kalyāṇo kittisaddo abbhuggacchatī’ti dānaṃ deti. Cittālaṅkāra-cittaparikkhāratthaṃ dānaṃ deti.
   337. “Aṭṭha dānūpapattiyo. Idhāvuso, ekacco dānaṃ deti samaṇassa vā brāhmaṇassa vā annaṃ pānaṃ vatthaṃ yānaṃ mālāgandhavilepanaṃ seyyāvasathapadīpeyyaṃ. So yaṃ deti taṃ paccāsīsati. So passati khattiyamahāsālaṃ vā brāhmaṇamahāsālaṃ vā gahapatimahāsālaṃ vā pañcahi kāmaguṇehi samappitaṃ samaṅgībhūtaṃ paricārayamānaṃ. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā khattiyamahāsālānaṃ vā brāhmaṇamahāsālānaṃ vā gahapatimahāsālānaṃ vā sahabyataṃ upapajjeyyan’ti! So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti, tassa taṃ cittaṃ hīne vimuttaṃ uttari abhāvitaṃ tatrūpapattiyā saṃvattati Tañca kho sīlavato vadāmi no dussīlassa. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti, tassa taṃ cittaṃ hīne vimuttaṃ uttari abhāvitaṃ tatrūpapattiyā saṃvattati. Tañca kho sīlavato vadāmi no dussīlassa. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti, tassa taṃ cittaṃ hīne vimuttaṃ uttari abhāvitaṃ tatrūpapattiyā saṃvattati.    “Aṭṭha lokadhammā– lābho ca, alābho ca, yaso ca, ayaso ca, nindā ca, pasaṃsā ca, sukhañca, dukkhañca.
   338. “Aṭṭha abhibhāyatanāni. Ajjhattaṃ rūpasaññī eko bahiddhā rūpāni passati parittāni suvaṇṇadubbaṇṇāni, ‘tāni abhibhuyya jānāmi passāmī’ti evaṃsaññī hoti. Idaṃ paṭhamaṃ abhibhāyatanaṃ.
   “Ajjhattaṃ rūpasaññī eko bahiddhā rūpāni passati appamāṇāni suvaṇṇadubbaṇṇāni, ‘tāni abhibhuyya jānāmi passāmī’ti– evaṃsaññī hoti. Idaṃ dutiyaṃ abhibhāyatanaṃ.

Seyyathāpi nāma bandhujīvakapupphaṃ lohitakaṃ lohitakavaṇṇaṃ lohitakanidassanaṃ lohitakanibhāsaṃ, seyyathā vā pana taṃ vatthaṃ bārāṇaseyyakaṃ ubhatobhāgavimaṭṭhaṃ lohitakaṃ lohitakavaṇṇaṃ lohitakanidassanaṃ lohitakanibhāsaṃ. Seyyathāpi nāma osadhitārakā odātā odātavaṇṇā odātanidassanā odātanibhāsā, seyyathā vā pana taṃ vatthaṃ bārāṇaseyyakaṃ ubhatobhāgavimaṭṭhaṃ odātaṃ odātavaṇṇaṃ odātanidassanaṃ odātanibhāsaṃ.    “Subhanteva adhimutto hoti. Ayaṃ tatiyo vimokkho.
   “Sabbaso rūpasaññānaṃ samatikkamā paṭighasaññānaṃ atthaṅgamā nānattasaññānaṃ amanasikārā ‘ananto ākāso’ti ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Ayaṃ catuttho vimokkho.
   “Sabbaso ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘anantaṃ viññāṇan’ti viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Ayaṃ pañcamo vimokkho.
   “Sabbaso viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘natthi kiñcī’ti ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Ayaṃ chaṭṭho vimokkho.

   342. “Nava akkhaṇā asamayā brahmacariyavāsāya. Idhāvuso tathāgato ca loke uppanno hoti arahaṃ sammāsambuddho, dhammo ca desiyati opasamiko parinibbāniko sambodhagāmī sugatappavedito. Ayañca puggalo nirayaṃ upapanno hoti. Ayaṃ paṭhamo akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, tathāgato ca loke uppanno hoti arahaṃ sammāsambuddho, dhammo ca desiyati opasamiko parinibbāniko sambodhagāmī sugatappavedito. Ayañca puggalo tiracchānayoniṃ upapanno hoti. Ayaṃ dutiyo akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
   “Puna caparaṃ …pe… pettivisayaṃ upapanno hoti. Ayaṃ tatiyo akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
   “Puna caparaṃ …pe… asurakāyaṃ upapanno hoti. Ayaṃ catuttho akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
   “Puna caparaṃ …pe… aññataraṃ dīghāyukaṃ devanikāyaṃ upapanno hoti. Ayaṃ pañcamo akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
   “Puna caparaṃ …pe… paccantimesu janapadesu paccājāto hoti milakkhesu aviññātāresu, yattha natthi gati bhikkhūnaṃ bhikkhunīnaṃ upāsakānaṃ upāsikānaṃ. Ayaṃ chaṭṭho akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
   “Puna caparaṃ …pe… majjhimesu janapadesu paccājāto hoti. So ca hoti micchādiṭṭhiko viparītadassano– ‘natthi dinnaṃ, natthi yiṭṭhaṃ, natthi hutaṃ, natthi sukatadukkaṭānaṃ kammānaṃ phalaṃ vipāko, natthi ayaṃ loko, natthi paro loko, natthi mātā, natthi pitā, natthi sattā opapātikā, natthi loke samaṇabrāhmaṇā sammaggatā sammāpaṭipannā ye imañca lokaṃ parañca lokaṃ sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā pavedentī’ti. Ayaṃ sattamo akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
   “Puna caparaṃ …pe… majjhimesu janapadesu paccājāto hoti. So ca hoti duppañño jaḷo eḷamūgo, nappaṭibalo subhāsitadubbhāsitānamatthamaññātuṃ. Ayaṃ aṭṭhamo akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
   “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, tathāgato ca loke na uppanno hoti arahaṃ sammāsambuddho, dhammo ca na desiyati opasamiko parinibbāniko sambodhagāmī sugatappavedito. Ayañca puggalo majjhimesu janapadesu paccājāto hoti, so ca hoti paññavā ajaḷo aneḷamūgo, paṭibalo subhāsita-dubbhāsitānamatthamaññātuṃ. Ayaṃ navamo akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
   343. “Nava anupubbavihārā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ savicāraṃ vivekajaṃ pītisukhaṃ paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā …pe… dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Pītiyā ca virāgā …pe… tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sukhassa ca pahānā …pe… catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sabbaso rūpasaññānaṃ samatikkamā …pe… ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sabbaso ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘anantaṃ viññāṇan’ti viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati.    344. “Nava anupubbanirodhā. Paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ samāpannassa kāmasaññā niruddhā hoti. Dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpannassa vitakkavicārā niruddhā honti. Tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpannassa pīti niruddhā hoti. Catutthaṃ jhānaṃ samāpannassa assāsapassāssā niruddhā honti. Ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samāpannassa rūpasaññā niruddhā hoti. Viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samāpannassa ākāsānañcāyatanasaññā niruddhā hoti. Ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ samāpannassa viññāṇañcāyatanasaññā niruddhā hoti. Nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ samāpannassa ākiñcaññāyatanasaññā niruddhā hoti. Saññāvedayitanirodhaṃ samāpannassa saññā ca vedanā ca niruddhā honti.

   346. Dasa kasiṇāyatanāni. Pathavīkasiṇameko sañjānāti, uddhaṃ adho tiriyaṃ advayaṃ appamāṇaṃ. Āpokasiṇameko sañjānāti …pe… tejokasiṇameko sañjānāti… vāyokasiṇameko sañjānāti… nīlakasiṇameko sañjānāti… pītakasiṇameko sañjānāti… lohitakasiṇameko sañjānāti… odātakasiṇameko sañjānāti… ākāsakasiṇameko sañjānāti… viññāṇakasiṇameko sañjānāti, uddhaṃ adho tiriyaṃ advayaṃ appamāṇaṃ.
   347. “Dasa akusalakammapathā– pāṇātipāto, adinnādānaṃ, kāmesumicchācāro, musāvādo, pisuṇā vācā, pharusā vācā, samphappalāpo, abhijjhā, byāpādo, micchādiṭṭhi.
   “Dasa kusalakammapathā– pāṇātipātā veramaṇī, adinnādānā veramaṇī, kāmesumicchācārā veramaṇī, musāvādā veramaṇī, pisuṇāya vācāya veramaṇī, pharusāya vācāya veramaṇī, samphappalāpā veramaṇī, anabhijjhā, abyāpādo, sammādiṭṭhi.
   348. “Dasa ariyavāsā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu pañcaṅgavippahīno hoti, chaḷaṅgasamannāgato, ekārakkho, caturāpasseno, paṇunnapaccekasacco, samavayasaṭṭhesano, anāvilasaṅkappo, passaddhakāyasaṅkhāro, suvimuttacitto, suvimuttapañño.
   “Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu pañcaṅgavippahīno hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno kāmacchando pahīno hoti, byāpādo pahīno hoti, thinamiddhaṃ pahīnaṃ hoti, uddhaccakukuccaṃ pahīnaṃ hoti, vicikicchā pahīnā hoti. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu pañcaṅgavippahīno hoti.

   “Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu paṇunnapaccekasacco hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno yāni tāni puthusamaṇabrāhmaṇānaṃ puthupaccekasaccāni, sabbāni tāni nunnāni honti paṇunnāni cattāni vantāni muttāni pahīnāni paṭinissaṭṭhāni. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu paṇunnapaccekasacco hoti.
   “Kathañcāvuso bhikkhu samavayasaṭṭhesano hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno kāmesanā pahīnā hoti, bhavesanā pahīnā hoti, brahmacariyesanā paṭippassaddhā. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu samavayasaṭṭhesano hoti.
   “Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu anāvilasaṅkappo hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno kāmasaṅkappo pahīno hoti, byāpādasaṅkappo pahīno hoti, vihiṃsāsaṅkappo pahīno hoti. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu anāvilasaṅkappo hoti.
   “Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu passaddhakāyasaṅkhāro hoti Idhāvuso, bhikkhu sukhassa ca pahānā dukkhassa ca pahānā pubbeva somanassadomanassānaṃ atthaṅgamā adukkhamasukhaṃ upekkhāsatipārisuddhiṃ catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu passaddhakāyasaṅkhāro hoti.
   “Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu suvimuttacitto hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno rāgā cittaṃ vimuttaṃ hoti, dosā cittaṃ vimuttaṃ hoti, mohā cittaṃ vimuttaṃ hoti. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu suvimuttacitto hoti.
   “Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu suvimuttapañño hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu ‘rāgo me pahīno ucchinnamūlo tālāvatthukato anabhāvaṃkato āyatiṃ anuppādadhammo’ti pajānāti. ‘Doso me pahīno ucchinnamūlo tālāvatthukato anabhāvaṃkato āyatiṃ anuppādadhammo’ti pajānāti. ‘Moho me pahīno ucchinnamūlo tālāvatthukato anabhāvaṃkato āyatiṃ anuppādadhammo’ti pajānāti.    “Ime kho, āvuso, tena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena dasa dhammā sammadakkhātā. Tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ na vivaditabbaṃ, yathayidaṃ brahmacariyaṃ addhaniyaṃ assa ciraṭṭhitikaṃ, tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānan”ti.
   349. Atha kho bhagavā uṭṭhahitvā āyasmantaṃ sāriputtaṃ āmantesi– ‘sādhu sādhu, sāriputta, sādhu kho tvaṃ, sāriputta, bhikkhūnaṃ saṅgītipariyāyaṃ abhāsī’ti. Idamavocāyasmā sāriputto, samanuñño satthā ahosi. Attamanā te bhikkhū āyasmato sāriputtassa bhāsitaṃ abhinandunti.
