  「比丘們!我將教導你們蛇行法門法的教說,你們要聽!你們要好好作意!我要說了。」
  「是的,大德!」那些比丘回答世尊
  世尊這麼說:
  「而,比丘們!什麼是蛇行法門之法的教說呢?比丘們!眾生是[自己]業的所有者、業的繼承者、業為根源者業的眷屬者、業的所依者,他們作業,不論善或惡,他們都是繼承者。
  比丘們!這裡,某人是殺生者、兇暴者、血手者、執意殺害者、對一切活的生物不同情者,他以身體爬行、以語言爬行、以意念爬行,他的身業是歪曲的;語業是歪曲的;意業是歪曲的;趣處是歪曲的;往生是歪曲的。又,比丘們!對趣處歪曲者、往生歪曲者來說,我說,只有兩趣之一趣:一向苦的地獄或蛇行類的畜生界。比丘們!什麼是蛇行類的畜生界呢?蛇、蠍、蜈蚣、鼬鼠、貓、鼠、貓頭鷹,以及其它任何畜生界眾生,當看見人後,牠們爬走。
  比丘們!像這樣,生類的往生是因生類自己,由其所作而往生,被往生後,觸接觸他,比丘們!這樣,我說眾生是[自己]業的繼承者。
  比丘們!這裡,某人是未給予而取者,……(中略)是邪淫者……是妄語者……是離間語者……是粗惡語者……是雜穢語者……是貪婪者……是有瞋害心者……是邪見者,有顛倒見:『無布施,……(中略)以證智自作證後而宣說此世、他世。』他以身體爬行、以語言爬行、以意念爬行,他的身業是歪曲的;語業是歪曲的;意業是歪曲的;趣處是歪曲的;往生是歪曲的。又,比丘們!對趣處歪曲者、往生歪曲者來說,我說,只有兩趣之一趣:一向苦的地獄或蛇行類的畜生界。比丘們!什麼是蛇行類的畜生界呢?蛇、蠍、蜈蚣、鼬鼠、貓、鼠、貓頭鷹,以及其它任何畜生界眾生,當看見人後,牠們爬走。

  比丘們!像這樣,生類的往生是因生類自己,由其所作而往生,被往生後,觸接觸他,比丘們!這樣,我說眾生是[自己]業的繼承者。

   216. “Saṃsappanīyapariyāyaṃ vo, bhikkhave, dhammapariyāyaṃ desessāmi. Taṃ suṇātha, sādhukaṃ manasi karotha; bhāsissāmī”ti. “Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca–
   “Katamo ca, bhikkhave, saṃsappanīyapariyāyo dhammapariyāyo? Kammassakā, bhikkhave, sattā kammadāyādā kammayonī kammabandhū kammapaṭisaraṇā, yaṃ kammaṃ karonti– kalyāṇaṃ vā pāpakaṃ vā– tassa dāyādā bhavanti.
   “Idha bhikkhave, ekacco pāṇātipātī hoti luddo lohitapāṇi hatapahate niviṭṭho, adayāpanno sabbapāṇabhūtesu. So saṃsappati kāyena, saṃsappati vācāya, saṃsappati manasā. Tassa jimhaṃ kāyakammaṃ hoti, jimhaṃ vacīkammaṃ, jimhaṃ manokammaṃ, jimhā gati, jimhupapatti.
   “Jimhagatikassa kho panāhaṃ, bhikkhave, jimhupapattikassa dvinnaṃ gatīnaṃ aññataraṃ gatiṃ vadāmi– ye vā ekantadukkhā nirayā yā vā saṃsappajātikā tiracchānayoni. Katamā ca sā, bhikkhave, saṃsappajātikā tiracchānayoni? Ahi vicchikā satapadī nakulā biḷārā mūsikā ulūkā, ye vā panaññepi keci tiracchānayonikā sattā manusse disvā saṃsappanti. Iti kho, bhikkhave, bhūtā bhūtassa upapatti hoti. Yaṃ karoti tena upapajjati. Upapannamenaṃ phassā phusanti. Evamahaṃ, bhikkhave, ‘kammadāyādā sattā’ti vadāmi.
   “Idha pana, bhikkhave, ekacco adinnādāyī hoti …pe… kāmesumicchācārī hoti… musāvādī hoti… pisuṇavāco hoti… pharusavāco hoti… samphappalāpī hoti… abhijjhālu hoti… byāpannacitto hoti… micchādiṭṭhiko hoti viparītadassano– ‘natthi dinnaṃ …pe… sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā pavedentī’ti. So saṃsappati kāyena, saṃsappati vācāya, saṃsappati manasā. Tassa jimhaṃ kāyakammaṃ hoti, jimhaṃ vacīkammaṃ, jimhaṃ manokammaṃ, jimhā gati, jimhupapatti

So na saṃsappati kāyena, na saṃsappati vācāya, na saṃsappati manasā. Tassa uju kāyakammaṃ hoti, uju vacīkammaṃ, uju manokammaṃ, uju gati, ujupapatti.
   “Ujugatikassa kho panāhaṃ, bhikkhave, ujupapattikassa dvinnaṃ gatīnaṃ aññataraṃ gatiṃ vadāmi– ye vā ekantasukhā saggā yāni vā pana tāni uccākulāni khattiyamahāsālakulāni vā brāhmaṇamahāsālakulāni vā gahapatimahāsālakulāni vā aḍḍhāni mahaddhanāni mahābhogāni pahūtajātarūparajatāni pahūtavittūpakaraṇāni pahūtadhanadhaññāni. Iti kho, bhikkhave, bhūtā bhūtassa upapatti hoti. Yaṃ karoti tena upapajjati. Upapannamenaṃ phassā phusanti. Evamahaṃ, bhikkhave, ‘kammadāyādā sattā’ti vadāmi.
